I've been getting into skating. It's pretty fun. I can't do any tricks but I've gotten the handle of things well so far. Too bad making a skateboard is expensive, like 200 dollars or so. I have some second hand board but it's not what I want. Wheels too wide and big and made more for cruising, board is maybe .25 or maybe even .5 inches too wide too.

As someone who knows nothing about skating, I feel like the tutorialization could be better.
They used some word for making tight turns in the first 30 seconds of the game, but I missed it and it's nowhere in the skatepedia. Dunno whether it was slang or an actual mechanic I'll need but I could never find it again.
I also just realized you can switch from regular to goofy and back by swinging the right stick. Super basic thing never explained.

I cannot do this challenge at the church for the life of me. It's only semi-pro but it's wrecking me. The railing is too high for me to do anything but boned ollie onto it and then I either fuck up jumping to the other rail, fall off at the end of the second rail, or I manage to do it but it's the most bland 50-50 grind and I therefore do not get the 750 points required. fucking hell this is annoying

i switched from smallest to medium height the other day and it made a night/day difference, but wasn't sure about height. there was one line challenge (4 star) where you have to jump up a rail from the bottom of the stairs and it took me SO many tries despite hitting it from different angles.

What controls the hight of my ollie? Is it flick speed, depth, cleanness of motion? Proximity to the thing you're trying to jump on to (will the game "help" you onto something if you ollie at the right distance)?

I bail 90% of the times I try and ollie onto basically anything higher than a curb. All the manual lesges are too high. I bailed a dozen times trying to jump that little staircase and over the street corner for the last footy tutorial challenge before I sailed clean over it, despite changing nothing in my inputs.

But to be honest the biggest reason they're competing is that Session iterates on Skate's controls in such a way that switching between the two will completely fuck your muscle memory for days on end. I already uninstalled. I'm tired of the "do all this in one go" objectives. Flick-it isn't as accurate as it should be for the more advanced tricks and it doesn't support Linux which I'm installing in the next few weeks.

This may sound retarded but I feel like they're kinda on the right track with pumping. There's just a few too many kinks/glitches with it that fuck you over. You can cheat the booth. There's a ramp on the right (from the start) you can roll up on and then do the two quick-flips, if you fail that ride the ramp up from the arena on the right (facing from the start) back to that ramp and try it again.

You can cheat some of the dailies out with some creative thinking. I did the stupid slam event where you Caveman into the drain pool to jump with speed to the bridge to manual it and then hit the lillypad one by just...

Climbing down from the start area, abusing the "YOU'RE OUT OF BOUNDS" timer (if hitting the edge) to move around some barriers, climbing down to the drain area that you're supposed to caveman, Cavemanning into it, getting off the board, climbing back up to the bridge, kickflip into a manual and then climbing down to slam (RB+A) myself the lillypad.

Hopefully EA doesn't fix that, but if more people know you can cheat the dailies like that they'll probably crackdown on it.

I mostly just hate the ones that involve sequence runs, and long lines with lots of room for tripping off your board. Granted they're probably stupid easy on the other gameplay mode with all of the assists on, but then it isn't Skate at that point.

I also don't know why this happens at times, where it tries to lip/grind off a surface. I don't recall this happening on steps in Skate 2/3.

I don't know why they made that change. Rolling should be both triggers, since the character uses both arms for it, and indiviudal triggers should be restored to the beta state of analog arm-control + board grabbing.

Default start was being too inconsistent on speed for the rail-2-rail at the start, so I stepped back and reset it from there. Then the forward-run+board from there was being fucking at going simply straight, so I just moved onto the street which gave me a better approach angle anyways.

I also had a decent run ruined at the stairs where it decided to magnetize me all the fucking way onto the wall for a wallride that I didn't want. I may just disable wallrides altogether, they're not needed in anything, and they're inconsistent in this game anyways.

Flick is 100 percent accurate for me on my dual shock with no settings changed. I also did not change rail settings and no problems with grinds besides trying to land in a boardslide and sometimes hitting a nose slide instead.

NTA, but the amount of times I've had an ollie read as a kick/heelflip is frequent enough to notice it. Even went and emulated Skate 3 with the same controller, and it was barely an issue there.

I've noticed this as well, thought I was going crazy but pulled up the indicator on-screen while I tested it out and there were for sure inconsistencies. I did a bunch of ollies where I pulled straight back then flicked up to 1 o'clock position. Sometimes it would register as an ollie, sometimes a kickflip. Granted yeah it should be straight back up in the first place, but after enough playing around I can safely say there is a *little* bit of mischief going on there if you aren't lined up absolutely perfectly for tricks.

After R1 it should give you like an entire 5 minutes or 30 seconds of footage. For some reason it starts at the end so you have to skim it a bit with RT or LT or replay from the start with long press A. Play it then press left to start the trim, right to end it

ive never been much of a vert skater when i played the previous skates but man it kinda feels nice, i think the controller feedback i get whenever i pump really makes a difference since now i know if im actually pumping or not. now if only they fixed it so it wouldnt feel buggy to use 90% of the time

Semi Auto pumping makes it so that any successful pump results in maximum speed gain, as opposed to the granular speed increase it normally does.
