The Karters 2 - Turbo Charged
Any anons playing this? It's basically CTR on PC with mods.

I do but I'm busy waging.

How do you compare it to CTR?

This is the first time I've ever heard of this game
The cat has me interested though.

Its pretty fun but is a bit more loose specifically because the devs don't want invisible barriers in tracks, so a lot of shortcuts have you using terrain to launch yourself out of bounds. Tracks have mandatory checkpoints to ensure you cant just skip half the track
The sound design and weapon design is pretty weak and needs more work, as is the base character roster. Mods feel essential to make things visually interesting but the gameplay purely for racing does feel really fun.
The absurdity of racing as Big Smoke in a train against spongebob and sonic is overshadowed by the enjoyment I get from it being really close to CTR on PC with custom tracks, and I know Microsoft won't deliver.
I got custom team racing as well so I am happy to enjoy having 2 cakes.

I am and I'm loving it. Was actually thinking of trying to host a /v/eekend thread to play with anons in a couple more hours, maybe if this thread is alive by then I'll post in here.

>>721085107
>the devs don't want invisible barriers in tracks
I think that's just a choice by modders. Lots of maps have invisible walls and "out of bounds" trigger zones, but those need to be put in by the uploader themselves, and I'm pretty sure 80% of people are just importing the geometry of the maps as is, adding the checkpoints and call it a day
Anonymous No.721086387 >>721087475 >>721091070
>>721085654
No the devs post devlogs on youtube so the sentiment of not having invisible walls comes from the top level.
Modded tracks are up to the modder, you can put your boundaries where you want, like in tiny arena or you could do no boundaries ever and just put checkpoints to make sure people do most of the track like hot air skyway

I see, well it's good that people have to choice to do it the way they want, to be honest the original tracks can be pretty hit or miss.
There's this modder guy that has been uploading original tracks and they are quite good, that goblin village one is also pretty visually impressive.

Thanks, anon.

One very underrated feature TK2 has is the fact that the modding tools let you close/open new paths from lap to lap, and even add or remove boost pads from lap to laps. Makes the tracks more unique, it's like Crossworlds changing the track but to a lesser scale, it's really cool.

It feels pretty close to CTR, to the extent where muscle memory carried me through a fair portion of the modded CTR tracks, although it's noticeably more forgiving especially given how much more air you get with jumps. Also has air breaking but no u-turning that I can tell of

You don't play many racing games, do you?
Anonymous No.721091070 >>721092674
>>721086387
That's a weird philosophy to have imo, leaving no boundaries will just lend itself for massive skips in tracks that and basically make that track irrelevant.

It's like those skips in Oxide Station where you only experience 20% of the map jiat because you skip so much, where's the fun in that? The fun of racing is navigating tracks and doing good lines and you choose to cheese the fun part by completely skipping it.

Anonymous No.721092674

They place mandatory checkpoints to ensure that you do still have to play the track instead of skipping it.
Its more of a mentality of "you can get here, so its allowed" and only putting respawn points where its obvious that a player has left the intended circuit or has gotten somewhere they cannot get themselves out of.
In practice it's an attempt at staying out of the player's way, but they can put their foot down if a skip is found that trivializes the rest of the track

I usually play with my friends but the times I've gone online there's always at least 4 more people playing so far, I think there is some sort of Discord integration that notifies some lobbies too, though don't quote me on that cuz I don't use discord.
My goal would be to find anons on 4chan to play a lot like in the Smash 4 /v/eekends and sometimes CTR threads.

>>721093610

Come on now. List all the content that has been added or all the things that have been fixed recently. Do it.

After early access launch it's just been ranked mmr that doesn't work, middle boost bar with borked contrast, and moving the photo mode menu to be included in the normal play.

The magic of the Steam Workshopβ„’

>>721094703
In these couple of weeks they added about 50 challenges to the Single Player so you get to play more modes/different tracks; they added the boost bar on the middle, fixed local saves being glitched, missing mods now get replaced with a random vanilla element so you don't always just see the cat character, and reworked the customization UI. I think it was past month when they added the Western-themed tracks too.
It's small things that add up, there's no game breaking glitches or stuff and mods keep it fresh while they add that story mode they want or whatever, only thing I'd like was optimizing the game on boot because my PC is kind of old and it takes a bit to load all the content i have installed whenever I start the game lol
Anonymous No.721095927 >>721096026
>>721095153
The challenges are just play and win on this track again and do it 100 times for number go up exp. And they even dared to tease story mode. The game was supposed to be released in 2023, including consoles. Was delayed like billion times including 1 hour before the early access launch. And there are game engine level glitches than can be used to invalidated all world records if one so wishes so no glitches my ass.

If these threads start to pick up, probably.

I made a thread on >>>/vm/1846438 that's mainly for Crash Team Racing but I also use it for TK2 where I play with another anon sometimes, you are free to join those, or if more threads like this show up, play with us there (i'll probably play if I ever see that happen)
