No they don’t, and your whataboutism is pathetic. They offer environmental interaction that gives you new tools for exploration, the core of the genre. Silksong lacks this entirely with any non movement ability, and thus ties them to actual lock and key items.
And there’s wide beam, spider missle and screw attack that all have meaningful functional distinction that allows for progression, since you apparently need it spelled out for you
