Cold Steel 1 is pretty palatable junk food, comfy and fun since you'll be exploring the areas for the first time with your classmates, and it's immersive as the first 3D game in the series, however the writing is complete slop with nothing below the surface level compared to the earlier games, which becomes especially apparent in CS2, so stopping after CS1 is optimal. Remake is fine but the game ends on a cliffhanger so if you don't want to wait for the sequel to come out play the originals.

Wait for the SC remake and play those 2 together. It's basically the classic game but modernized, it's not like Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined where they are changing things

i've played the sky trilogy several times and one of them was with the voice patch that was ripped from the vita version that adds voice acting to just about every line. i'm aware of how punched up and exeggerated some lines are, but i still find myself preferring them most of the time.
