Not only the Switch 2 is notably less powerful than the PS4/XOne (let alone the PS5 and Series SX), but it runs a completely different architecture (ARM) that would require Rockstar to invest time and resources in a special version of the game just for a console that probably won't even be able to run it well.

PS5 and Series SX alone have sold almost 100 million units, and all of them have the same x86-64 architecture of regular PCs, making it easier to port and optimize the game.
Meanwhile the Switch 2 was just released and it's already behind 9th gen consoles in terms of specs, has a market of just 6 million, runson a completely diferent architecture that would require an additional effort to port the original game, and its fans are known for always prioritizing 1st party games over 3rd party ones. From a realistic POV porting GTA6 to S2 isn't worth the effort, at least not now.

This is cope, even Nintendo is putting resources in AA development while pushing indies. They don't spend much on their own first-party games and they future proofed the hell out of the Switch 2. Nintendo knows that Moore's Law is either slowed or dead and tends to keep this generation going for a long time, longer than even the Switch. Valve has the same plan for the Steam Deck 2. 10th generation is when PlayStation and Xbox fully collapse, not even Sony or Microsoft can keep this going.

The laws of thermodynamics exist, the Switch 2's wattage along with the weak CPU isn't going to allow it to play a game like GTA 6 without a lot of special Switch 2 only sacrifices made. Games like Star Wars Outlaws and Cyberpunk already had to greatly reduce NPC and enemy density to have them run.

So when the install base will be under 20 million, investing tens of millions to make it work isn't feasible and at that point you might as well port it to Xbox One/PS4. The current generation has already stagnated with the PS4 ports, making it stagnate for another generation just kills gaming in general because kids will still stick to Roblox instead.

It was the result of better hardware releasing. And THAT better hardware was just "we can now produce a processor twice as powerful for the same price", meaning "a processor as powerful as the one in the current console for half the price"

That is what lowered console price: they changed to more modern components, that were just as powerful but in return way cheaper.

Well here's the problem: technological development is largely stuck. New manufacturing breakthroughs are few and far between these days. That means the same hardware is no longer going down in price because the manufacturing cost simply remains the same. You still get more powerful hardware sure... only does that hardware always cost more and more.

We are basically now in a time where game (and movie for that matter) technology is basically consolidated and will largely be stuck for MANY years until maybe some big innovation is discovered and adopted. But the pioneering days are over.

Whatever the PS6 generation gen will be will probably last for a decade if not longer.

So I'm holding on to it just in case they actually release an exclusive and maybe one day use gamepass. Also, GTA may run better on it than the PS5 (it does have better specs).
