>valve for catering to compfags
Even then, in the most literal sense, the trainwreck that is Casual Mode was never wanted by Competitive players or the rest of us obviously. It was Valve panicking and rushing a new system that would mold the existing playerbase into this new Competitive mindset. I remember all the Competitive stress tests leading up to Meet Your Match and it being plagued with a shitton of problems like abandonments, crashes due to forced dxlevel settings, and matchmaking being unsuitable for a game like TF2. Instead of fixing those issues specifically for their Competitive mode, they instead did nothing, removed Quickplay, and forced a new, rushed mode onto everyone in an attempt to """fix""" the mindset of the players.
You can say whatever, it's still implicitly compfags fault because Valve was trying to turn TF2 into a new e-sport for them, but Valve were the ones chasing CS:GO and DOTA2's success for TF2 due to stagnant growth of the latter. They consulted compfag opinions on how to do this, created all this hype, and in the end, didn't even listen to the compfags. Valve then neglected the game and let bots run rampant, only doing the bare minimum when getting bad press could threaten the economies of their other big cash cows. Blame Valve and Valve alone for being scum, never let them forget they ruined this game.
