resident evil 4 decide that its legacy wasn't actually the original groundbreaking game, it was all of the watered down western games that copied it in its wake
third person shooters since re4 have been "perfected" with a easy to make and copy paste design that you see in literally every single AAA third person shooter, and capcom applied this formula to their remake instead of properly building off of the originals combat because they wanted to maximize sales instead of actually honoring the original creation

re4 remake is good but the original is even better

I spent half an hour checking all of the people who gave REmake 4 a positive review on steam to see if they had the original in their library. Over 87% of players did not have the original game, and the 2.4% of people who did never finished it.

I've played RE4 dozens of times on half a dozen consoles and PC. I still think the remake is pretty awesome. I love both games.

That's retarded. It does build off the original, making it weightier and the combat more difficult lol. No modern generic OTS shooter feels like Remake 4. Only thing I dislike is that hitstun is less consistent, when that was a core feature in OG4... but it was clearly nerfed because it made the game too easy, which classic RE4 is.

Because the majority of people played it on the original hardware, retard. Original 4 is easy anyway - playing, or beating it isn't exactly a huge accomplishment. It was the most casual RE game of the series.

I'm impressed some people argue the opposite honestly, going from 1 to 2 is a goddamn culture shock. Bullets and healing everywhere, very low enemy density, bosses that just kinda stand around doing nothing lickers are weak, dumb and useless... I think RE2 has like a total of maybe 6 dogs across an entire playthrough.
It was much more popular than 1 because of its plot and FMVs that really drew people in back then, it was a really good looking game, but replaying it now is just sad.

RE4 OG is basically the father of 90% of third person games that came out in the following 10 years (and some even later) after it. Every time a dev would get asked what their inspiration was, RE4 would be the first thing named. Even non-shooter games, like God of Onions 4, would have RE4 named as an influence.
What, exactly, has RE4R influenced so far? Can you name one game?

RE4R doesn't need to influence anything. It took the foundation of the original and built a different game around it. OTS combat has already been solved, so it's just a matter of personalizing it.

Both games are so different from each other.
Original is campy while Remake is dry and serious, Villains in OG are charismatic and constantly taunt Leon while OG are generic and on the background, OG is more precise because all weapons had the red laser pointer and enemies always react to where you shoot while Remake is more random so instead of going with an strategy you have to react to what happens.
Original has a much better UI with Leon having different poses with whatever he equips while Remake is more sterile with the boring UI almost every new game has.
Very different games. I honestly prefer that since it makes them worth playing.
I will play the Wii version, will make OG a new experience.
