Vinny started out streaming on his own website, which he shilled here. Then Twitch, (Which was still TwitchTV at the time) had better video quality and fewer issues than what he was using, so he switched to that, and Vinesauce.com became a glorified chatroom and art booru where anons could say slurs and post fan art freely while they watched him. Both coexisted for a while, then it cut down to just the art booru, and that ended because Tomodachi Life and Animal Crossing attracted too many parasocial autists and furries to Vinesauce.
The first wave of popularity came after an animation based on a Corruption Compilation went viral. After that, he was the Corruptions Guy, until he played Tomodachi Life and Animal Crossing New Leaf. Which made him absurdly popular, culminating in him realizing that the parasociality a lot of his viewers were developing because he was reacting to their art, adding their characters and responding to their comments was legitimately dangerous.
You can still tell he's a 4chan guy at heart. He has to stop himself from saying "nigger" and makes references to 4chan lingo pretty regularly, even as the in jokes like SPEEN and Melpert become more and more prominent.
I wouldn't be surprised if he still lurks from time to time. I watched him back when he shilled himself here, and those streams were actually pretty fun. I miss it.
