Any thoughts on the Tak games? Which Juju is your favorite? I liked the first game most, very fun but open (mostly) but not much in terms of empty space like new open world games.

It's weird how it was conceived of as a show, then became a game series that was decent, and then a show came out later that barely acknowledged the games, and then two games based on that continuity that were shit.
I really loved the artstyle.

You mean it was a cartoon before it was a game? I always thought it was the other way around. Either way, both were mid

It was a whole trilogy before the cartoon came along, and by that point most of the staff had left for other ventures. The cartoon approval kept getting pushed back for reasons so the fact that this shit got a trilogy in spite of it all is pretty impresive
Anyways shit like Moon Juju always looked cool, the game had a very nice art style but its hard to find concept art for it(like from OG sources not just whatever the games had to unlock)

as a kid I enjoyed 1 and 2, but holy crap I didnt remember the chicken suit feeling so horrible to glide.
some of the levels in 2 pissed me off, but choosing the animal suit blindly is getting a shitty powerup is one of the most hilarious things in any video game.
devs these days dont have the balls to trick you like that in a big fat permanent way. you would get people bitching about how your save file is ruined.

the panflute rock is pretty unique and refreshing to hear, replaying these games really took me back to my youth.

Come to think of it, if any of you want another Tak-like experience, you should try the Meet the Robinsons game. Same devs and also a platformer with various abilities, not as good as the tak games imo but the last game they did in that style I believe.

I actually just started it today, it was the one tak game (I don't count the non-avalanche games) I never had or played so it's like old new stock for me. I kinda wish it was more like the first game instead of going harder into the linear levels thing, but the character interactions are fun so I'm into it.

Yeah it did feel a little poorly implemented on certain parts of the archipelago level, I liked it overall though. Kind of funny that the chicken suit basicially did what the ostrich form in DK bananza does but an entire 2 decades before Nintendo did it. And now I feel so old.

I loved the soundtracks and art of these so much too, yeah.

I honestly don’t remember much about it. I think as a kid I really liked how good it felt to destroy shit in that game with the like throwable things? They made this really nice “crash” sound and the particle effects seemed nice from what I remember. I think I also liked how green and jungley the game looked but other then that I can’t remember much else

I really enjoyed staff of dreams
I was a retarded kid so it took me forever to get to the final boss and I couldn't figure the fight out so I gave up on the game with 2 minutes left on it

I will say that the trope of
>Actual final boss plays completely differently from the rest of the game
Is an utter dogshit trope and I hate it. But at least with Tak 2 there is an actual real bossfight before that and it's more of a victory lap thing to make you feel cool.

I genuinely got filtered by the section where you have to protect the other NPCs
