My normalfag friends who barely qualify as gamers got into Souls games with Elden Ring and all made characters like pic related. I tried convincing them to play DeS and DaS 1, 2, and 3, but they refused because the games "look old." I hate them.

I have noticed that people seem to be scared of being serious about anything these days. If you try to take anything even remotely serious you are "cringe". That's why people make these goofy characters when they know they are going to be playing with other people (or watched by other people while playing) and then, when they play solo, they make the character they actually wanted to make.

My condolences. Ive been in the same situation. I stopped bothering since they never listen and the only time they end up changing their mind and sharing my beliefs on anything, its because public opinion shifted or they were peer pressured into changing.

I feel like the only person that makes non-self insert, unironic male characters... when the female character model is bad like in FromSoft games. I will always play as female otherwise.

I've played them all since Demon's Souls back in 2010 and, while I do usually make 'serious' characters, I also like to make some deformed faced ones from time to time.

My reasons are:
>I don't like to use the default face
>it is much easier to make a deformed face than a normal or good-looking one
>because it is fun sometimes.

sometimes you just want to test a wacky build, so you make a silly character with a silly name to go with it.

it may be an old joke for us but first few times playing games being able to deform character like that is entertaining, especially when they aren't as emotionally invested in the franchise to take it seriously
also recommending someone a practically same game but different installment after liking a game is pure autism, why would anyone that barely plays a game wants to binge on an entire franchise by playing it sequentially?

i always use that exact hair and beard combo, it's probably an unpopular opinion but i think DS2 has the best character creator in the trilogy, DS1 everyone looks like a PS2 character and DS3 everyone ends up looking like a freak. the only thing that sucks with the DS2 one is the female model have massive shoulders for some reason
