Marika pretty much only accepted Godhood to bring genocide to the Hornsent for revenge
a good deal at the time, but she's been looking for a way out ever since
by the time Godwyn was killed, she pretty much said "fuck it, let's see what happens" and shattered the Elden Ring

It's not actually clear why she started tearing up the Golden Order even with DLC adding additional context, but my best guess is that the Golden Order effectively failed to create gold in the gigantic allegory for alchemy that the Elden Ring is, so she's trying all over again and/or abdicating godhood entirely

i gathered from the info from the churches and the horny blacksmith's dialogue that she decided the golden order needed to be restructured and the elden beast had to go after examining it more.

yes and no, it accelerated her plans cause she was planning to use the destined death to kill the greater will. since ranni used it before marika, people are gonna investigate the destined death putting it on high alert thus throwing a wrench in marika's 5d plan to use it herself. the real irony is that godwyn wasnt her favorite, marika was searching for a child unbound to the greater will who would join her plans. if godwyn was viable for this, she would never have needed to pull radagon out of his happy marriage to put babies in her to make miqulla and mellenia. by being a home wrecker for ranni's family, ranni took revenge by rejecting marika and by extension the greater will which was ironically what marika was searching for the whole time.
