Yeah because like every other pagan following across the world their gods were shattered by the abrahmics rolling through. Mormonism and the Ratana Church took a point of throwing out the old ways in favor of the new. The islanders are no different and they took to the evangelical model like flies to shit leaving their own coconut gods behind in the ensuring carnage.
The atheist ones now are just part of a wider symptom towards separatism as a general idea and way to break off from the collective. Even if you could find some oldfags willing to part that oral knowledge to you it won't mean much in the grand scheme.
