Most people in general don't beat games they buy that are longer than your average beat-em-up. If it can't be beat in one sit, the majority won't. And guess what? You can put 8 hours into a game, enjoy it, and say it was worth the money. Cheaper than going to the movies still if you compare hour by hour.

i get it and i understand, but you forget how many fucking losers buy games on steam and then never play them. or gift games to friends who don't play the gifted games. achievements on a platform like steam would mean more if people actually always played the games they got. i'm guilty of this too.

Doesn't mean it should be uphold as the best as other games with the similar genre. I've played my share of other metroidvania games and I can whole-heartedly understand the difficulty and how it can suddenly spike the skill ceiling, you can say the same for Soulslike but that's another story.

But Hollow Knight just felt like its trying too much to be hard to the point it's not even fun and they expect that you'll suck it up once they made Silksong harder. You fuckers overhype the sequel and suddenly think this game is the best Metroidvania to exist today when it's actually badly designed and proceed to tell anyone who complain that they are cry-babies that should just 'git gud'

the most unnecessarily difficult part was the platforming with the seesaws and maybe the trial of the fool but even those were doable with a couple of tries. With a fully upgraded character almost all bosses die with like 2-3 nail cyclones and using the soul you get from those attacks to spam black spells, one of which give you very generous i-frames.
