Look, I get that you probably only care about story structure as the basis for experimentation, but it's wildly ridiculous to claim that Fates and Awakening didn't innovate anything or experiment with new ideas. They've continued to define nuFE, really, with the extreme character relation & support focus, the skill/reclassing focus, and even the game structure with gaidens unlocked through supports.
