You know, liminal spaces and the zoomer fear of them is quite similar to Poe (as an easy example), because it’s just fear of a space that seems like it could be hiding something beyond what the eye can see
Poe wrote about this in the context of rapid urbanization, which physically created very narrow and cramped spaces that would naturally get very dark, all while the inhabitants were pushed closer and closer together, meaning people developed a natural sense of paranoia because they expected someone or something to be close to them at all times, even in what seemed to be a dark and empty space
This is the opposite, but similar, because zoomers are used to the idea of closeness and urbanization, so the notion that a space could exist and have nothing in it gives rise to paranoia in the sense that it defies expectations. Something SHOULD be there, but isn’t.
