If we accept that the Hollow Knight world has Earthlike Gravity then Hornet would be like 3ft tall and not bug size.
The reason for this is fluid dynamics. Water, air and fire act like how they would if the characters were human sized. If they were bug sized then water, wind and fire would be radically different. They would be able to do stuff like hold droplets of water since it would act more like a sludge. The heat of even a small fire would be so intense the there wouldn't even need to ignition before the heat would scorch them. Wind would be so strong even a small breeze would send them kilometres across an area.

This game becomes significantly worse when going for 100%. The amount of content hidden behind random fake walls/ceilings that are completely innocuous is retarded. Why would you design a game like that? And beyond that it's just unfocused. I wouldn't call it bloated exactly, it just doesn't really know what to do with all its content, so things end up feeling messy, not as emphasized as they should, not fleshed out enough.
The game will be peak once it gets a boss rush DLC like godmaster though.

just because a game is part of an arbitrary idea of a genre doesn't mean it can only have one facet of enjoyment. The bosses in Silksong are the best part of the game, so having them all be available in a pantheon would be wonderful for players who want that.
And Silksong itself clearly puts exploration in the backseat. It's still there of course, but it's clearly not the primary source of enjoyment like it was in HK. A lot of the space in Silksong is reserved for battle arenas and platforming challenges, which makes the way you move through the world a bit more set in stone, a bit more linear, and there's just less room to explore in general. Also the level design is pretty underwhelming in general. The amount of rooms that are just straight horizontal lines that you sprint through is a bit ridiculous.

I just finished the game. Art, movement, combat, and world-details are all god-tier. When in the flowstate this is the best "game pheel" I've ever felt. That said the MMO-tier quests, tool system, cardboard characters, contrived story, and bizarre level design and world building drag the game from all time to merely great. It's frustrating to play something so close to perfect, falling prey to such mundanely bad choices of design. I thought Bilewater was the best area of the game. Bilewater is the only example and ONLY because you can't repair the broken bench unlike in Hunters March and Sinners Road
The only bad parts are the big floating guys being able to hit you for 4 masks since your invincibility frames dont last long enough to run away from the second hit
The second bullshit part is that the jump from secret bench makes it nigh on impossible to dodge the maggot water on the way out
The leaping worms suck, but are optional
The area isn't fun, but it's not unreasonable besides the fake-out bench

A bench collapsing under your feet after a platforming trek there it not a challenge, it's a troll for the player. The only other bench is hidden in the middle of bumfuck nowhere and requires you to wade through a maggot pit to reach it for the first time, which the player has been conditioned to avoid. There's areas in the game significantly more challenging than anything in Bilewater, but they aren't deliberate trolls like Bilewater so nobody is bothered by them.

Fetch quest hate is a total meme, but Courier's Rasher does feel like it's balanced around you preemptively clearing out the path, which is bullshit. I'll agree it's a problem that 90% of the actual rewards are in Act 2, but there doesn't have to be something amazing hidden in every little nook and cranny. The shard rocks dropping like 5 times what they did now would also improve it a lot, it's not like you can stockpile it, and it would allow bad players who need many tries to beat bosses to also use tools regularly without needing to grind.
