Microsoft starts rolling out Gaming Copilot on Windows 11 PCs
>Microsoft has begun rolling out the beta version of its AI-powered Gaming Copilot to Windows 11 systems for users aged 18 or older, excluding those in mainland China.
>Tagged as a "personal gaming sidekick," Gaming Copilot will also be pushed to Xbox mobile app users on Apple and Android devices starting next month.
>To start using Gaming Copilot in the Game Bar, Windows users must install the Xbox PC app on their PC and use the Windows logo key + G keyboard shortcut to open the Game Bar.
>Next, they can find the Gaming Copilot icon in the Home Bar, open the widget, and log in to their Xbox account.
>They can use Gaming Copilot's Voice Mode to get assistance with in-game tasks, ask it to recommend new games to play, check their achievements or their play history, and more.
>"A major step in Xbox's journey to bring these AI-powered experiences to players is rolling out: Gaming Copilot β which provides recommendations, help, insights and more β is officially coming to Windows PC and Xbox on mobile," Microsoft said.
>"PC players will begin seeing Gaming Copilot integrated directly into their Game Bar experience, then it'll come to the Xbox mobile app on Apple and Android in October."

It's those who haven't found a way to profit comfortably from it or found a use they are willing to eat the cost on who will suffer the most.

Honestly the only useful thing about LLM's so far is finding what anime I watched based on the details I remember (like it's a mobeblob having a girl with pink hair in a bikini armor). And then finding out instructions, or have it create a table from a picture of numbers so I could just copy and paste it. So basically replaces Google of all places lmao. Google is shit nowadays anyway. All the first few sites are sponsored SEO slop with AI written articles. I'd just use GPT myself.
For the images side of things.... Egghh I've found more uses by training loras of concepts or characters to use it for my own artwork reference than flat out generate lol. It doesn't eliminate the effort but it sure does cuts down the work by half.

Switched to linux this week and I'm surprised how smooth it was. Most programs so far just run from my network mounted windows drives and there's tons of useful features out of the box that are missing on windows or require you to go searching. Tabs in file manager, brightness control on the task bar, displaying charge status for my wireless devices, etc.
The only real issue I've found is that my drawing tablet doesn't support linux properly. It laggs sometimes and has a lot of jank, some functions now require multiple button presses/gestures when it's only one on windows. That's the only real argument for windows for me, but from what I hear most cheap artist draw on an ipad anyway.

Maybe you're an IT guy so you do this every day every night, but regular folks are not going to go through that bullshit of figuring out why things aren't working, going to stackoverflow to find some random commands that probably just gonna brick it even more, or if the libraries aren't all set up, or if there's some drivers or blah blah. A lot of retards and jeets have this belief that, "Oh, [thing] is high-tech, which means we WILL embrace it in the future and it will be integrated into every aspect of our lives," but that simply isn't how human nature works. How much revenue are these "AI" companies bringing in right now? How much are they expecting to be bringing in in the coming years?

AI is absolutely a bubble. There's a hard efficiency curve on the amount of improvement you get per watt of compute. And the same is true of VRAM.
It's a logarithmic curve, and we're close to the plateau of what LLMs and image generation models are ever going to be capable of. And it's getting harder and harder to just throw more compute at it, because we're hitting the physical limit of how small features can be on a given piece of silicon.

You spent the better part of the last 25 years learning Windows. You only think Windows is easier out of necessity. Linux is by far the superior experience.
>>721168479
All of these things boil down to skill issues of installing a larger-than-life expert version of Linux that requires editing config files by hand like Arch and then being surprised the expert version is the hard version. If you had chosen a GUI experience, you wouldn't have to edit wifi configs by hand and set resolution settings in xorg or set up systems in such a way that they could boot-loop.
You chose that. Easier Distros are right there and it would have gone with the safest defaults and you chose not to use it.

-AI is a bubble
-It's on the same trajectory as the Metaverse
-All of the hype for it is artificial
-The only use cases it has found are in technical fields where its full potential is already realized
-Everything else are shoving it into existing products in hopes to find the niche that will keep it from exploding.
Just like how VR didn't vanish because the Metaverse went bust, neither will AI as a concept. At the same time, there are basically zero tech proponents now insisting VR be part of everyday life when 100% of them were stating that "it will reduce but it is the way forward" 1:1 exactly as you just did 4 years ago.
Before that, you had Crypto proponents doing the same thing.
Your entire sad existence is bouncing back and forth to various tech pyramid schemes used to fuel speculation bubbles to keep Silicon Valley from collapsing. After this gravy train inevitably ends, you'll jump to some other transient, overhyped production of Hollywood.

Metaverse was the same exact way: CEOs being pussies and stopping the train just before it reached their promised land.
>genAI actually DOES something. Metaverse from day 1 was a nothing product for nobody, like NFTs.
We have a metaverse right now in the form of VR Chat. But what's the #1 way people use VR Chat? Gooning, cybersexing, staring at naked girls in VR all day. Metaverse has a use case for the normal user, too.
If they had embraced the actual use case of VR: Being hyper realistic pornography with the option to explore digital cyberpunk worlds where anything goes because none of it was real: They would have had their Metaverse future where everyone bought into it. Instead, we got this fucking dogshit because nobody wanted to go all-in with the obvious use case of this technology.
AI is exactly the same way. We had great AI that could sort almost the entire internet not even that long ago, but the censorship and lobotomizing has now made it incredibly unintelligent, incapable of sorting search results better than previous dumb-algorithms relying purely on regex.
We truly live in the shittiest cyberpunk dystopia. It's a shame nobody named the type of cyberpunk dystopia where the corpos are equally shiftless con-men but are also complete cowards who won't make what people want. Instead shoving in shitty half-measures for investors to play slot machines with instead of useful products people would enjoy.

>It's the same
No, it isn't. It's not what everyone is throwing money at. This is more of what machine learning has been for the past 50 years. Highly specialized, highly technical applications.
It is not the "AI revolution", it's not the promise that these companies are trying get funded on. Sure, the fundamentals are similar, but there is no ChatGPT in Rheinmetall's automated fire control systems. It is something completely different. Just like protein folding is something fundamentally different from what people call "AI" today. You surely know this too.
And these highly specific, highly technical applications are not what money is required for. You can do all these specialist applications without a giant datacenter and massive capex/opex, you can run AlphaFold at reasonable speeds on your video game computer.
Similarly the types of object recognition models Rheinmetall likely is running are fairly cheap to both train and run.
This isn't where all the money is going.

Most people use AI the ai results over google search results now.
Most of the reason people used google now was to answer a question, not find a website. The AI answers questions better, without ads or bullshit.

Like the industries give a fuck if AI lives or dies. They are implenting it because it's useful as fuck and helps everyone do their jobs.
You are so disconnected from that reality, you think "the economy" or "industry" are cooperative monoliths propping up a tech to make someone feel good.
They're business each asking "How do I get my share of thr pie? How can I do this better than my competitors?"

Unlike NFT and crypto, AI does have practical uses. We are already seeing diminishing returns on generative, but still to see the plateau yet in other sectors.
Anecdote: my dad just retired last year after 38 years in the finance sector. He said his contacts at his old firm told him they are already using AI to halve the number of new hires. When 80% of your job is just to monitor portfolios or file paperwork, AI does it better and faster.
The impact on white collar jobs outside of tech haven't even started yet.

Employees are useful even if though have to pay them at market rate. I am saying that "AI" solutions are not useful if you have to pay for them at a cost that is sustainable for the provider (that is: market rate). The reason why is that the advantage provided is too low and the cost is too high.
People like "AI" right now, because it's being sold at a massive loss, none of these companies make any money.

I ignored Mint for having less support via both updates and past conversations about how to fix XYZ, used Ubuntu, never tweaked it and games Windows 8 enterprise wouldn't run without issues like Diablo 1 and Arcanum can run now.
It's a full on desktop environment that seldom ever asks you paste something into terminal. If you cannot learn how to use a full on desktop environment where you can put your own folders wherever the hell you want without issue and where most games' files go to one and only one location instead of 4 or 5 like Windows, then you deserve to be stuck with and continually fucked by Windows until you find the rest of your brain.

Nah you're a stupid faggot who doesn't know what he's talking about. 11labs can literally perfect narration if used properly. Modern narrators are uninspired and underpaid so they don't bother doing a good job.
I would give you examples of actual narration by real people but they're very rare compared to the industry standard that AI can completely replace with no effort.
If you don't know anything and just want to shit out an opinion I get that but I don't give a fuck shut your mouth retard.

If AI was all that great and efficient you wouldn't have to force people to use it. They would want to use it.
I'd laugh but the brownouts are coming and they're already telling people in Texas to take fewer showers

first of, reducing transistor size is not the only way to improve efficiency/performance. Second, that's the reason why data centers with multiple times larger compute capabilities just from the number of GPUs employed are being built all over the world right now.

Grim. It's crazy how Microsoft got turned into going all in on this shit when people only want to use AI for porn. They really need to stop focusing on the Chinese and Indian market.

Like the other anon said, it unironically ran by an Indian CEO who is anti-privacy and thinks chatGPT is some super crazy thing that everybody needs. He sent a memo to all development and office staff that they NEED to start using their AI stuff while at Microsoft because nobody is actually using it, and it's making work more inefficient when they DO use it. If you haven't noticed, India just entered the internet like 10 years ago and they are the #1 source of AI usage, next to China.
