What is it about this guy's games that makes so many anons sing praises about them? I've played Blight a couple of years ago and although I genuinely wanted to enjoy it, I found it a chore to get through.

It's not even a matter of eroge standards. A vast majority of JRPGs are braindead simple and you can get through them just by spamming basic attacks or whatever is the most efficient action and throwing out a heal when needed. Games like sequel and EO encourage a lot of buff/debuff/status usage and that alone puts them above at least 90% of JRPGs. I can't recall the last time I had to actually think about what I was doing in a bigger budget JRPG aside from DQ11 with several draconian quests active and even then DQ relies too much on artificial difficulty(lol resurrection with a 50% chance to fail and some bosses being impossible without keeping certain debuffs up but the chance to apply and the duration are both random so you realistically have to spam that shit nearly every turn just to fight against bad luck.)

As for InoRules I agree. Quantity over quality kinda killed it. The other half that killed it for me in terms of h-scenes was Ino himself. Some will vehemently try to deflect this, but female on trap is hot garbage, he should've had pure homo scenes. He was very good from the actual story protag side of things however, gotta give credit where it's due.

I mean, hakika usually keeps the porn separate from the gameplay anyway, it was no different from his RPGs because of that. All the scenes were in the hub with the two girls.

This is fair, lots of the girls had more than one scene though. I feel like the best scenes in the game were from Fiede and the lords in the postgame though. Especially Kaamos's scenes. Regardless, I didn't feel it was pointless, it was nice to finally see some scenes with some of the more underrated monster girls like the fire butt, oil slime, mushroom and dragon.

I didn't think it was that bad, but I remember the game didn't sell that well at first because hakika advertised it so much as a homo game, when it only ended up having 8 homo scenes total out of around 90. What a waste. It sold better as time went on, at least.
