Because the arena is so small that any attempt to avoid one puts you in proximity of another. Both do 2 mask damage so your health is functionally cut in half. And the only saving grace is that the bench is next door so you can at least bash your head against the wall with efficiency

The combat and movement is the second best part of this game, I don't know why so many complaints center around it. Sucks that there is little space left for genuine criticism of the game's "quests" and shards and story.

It's bad because it belongs to a shit game with an unearned cult following of trannies that have like 5 threads in the catalog dedicated to it instead of sticking to their main one because they're attention-whoring parasites.
Anonymous No.721167797 [Report]
This fight is easy if you just get help from an ally or use Architect, but that doesn't explain how it's acceptable to just flood 75% of the screen with flailing massive enemies and if you touch them you lose 2 health.

It's profoundly lazy and complete whiplash coming off absolute kino like First Sinner into utter garbage like this.
Anonymous No.721167886 [Report]

Gauntlets are usually made out of enemies you are familiar with but in a difficult situation, to test your skill. Introducing completely new heavyweight enemies in a gauntlet and then filling most of the screen with them is a bit scummy.

It's not, it's cool. I enjoyed it.
I can imagine the complaints come from act 2 being a bit more free form, so if a person goes

I didn't really care about it, but I assume it's because you don't really get to learn the big guy's attacks outside of this, and the game expects you to take on two at once. The rest of the gauntlet isn't that hard imo, it's these two guys at the very end that will lead to 99% of your deaths. Easiest way to deal with them is to quickly burst down one with tools and silk skills so that you have to only deal with one. That, or you just get Shakra to help, which removes all difficulty from the gauntlet.
Anonymous No.721168339 [Report]

Staying in the corner still means that you lose half of the arena when they arent attacking. One of them jumping towards you forces you in the middle again (if the other doesnt block your path, which he usually is)

>The combat and movement is the second best part of this game
The combat and movement are dogshit in Silksong. The reason you think otherwise is that you are an uninformed newfag NPC that has never played a game with actually good combat and movement, so you have no frame of reference for what constitutes bad/good combat and movement.
This is the entire Silksong discourse in a nutshell: people who actually play video games compare it to the good ones and find it lacking, while mentally-ill soulstroons like the OP argue against "muh difficulty" strawman, something no one actually complains about.
>hurr durr, when people say that whatever element of the Silksong is poorly designed, they mean it's too difficult,"
No, troon, they don't.

The attacks of each one of them covers 50% of the arena, and now there are two of them. You can't dash because you will bump into one of them because you have no space. And worst of all, they have a billion health. I don't know why any enemy is a damage sponge in this game.

park on the top of the wall and spam attack with reaper crest. they can't get you and you can tap them when they do the stupid jump attack.
Anonymous No.721169870 [Report]
I spent a good amount of time in this gauntlet, and though I was extremely weak (6 mask, 1 nail upgrade, no use of tools, no double jump) I still managed to the to the last round pretty consistently. After I went and got the double jump, I got 7 masks, completed the pinmasters' oil quest, and got the tacks and the poison from shellwood. After that, it took me 2 or 3 tries maximum.

Still, I think the last round was really poorly designed. I am not the best at videogames, and I messed up a lot of times, but RNG often backed me into a corner with no way to get out and just wait for the inevitable. The only strat I had left was to keep them both on one side, spam the Tacks and burst down one of them, essentially cheesing the fight.

When the only way to make a fight not pure cancer is to cheese it, then it's bad game design. The only thing you need to fix it is to spawn them with a little time apart so you can at least get a chance to lower one without resorting to cheese.

if it's the one I'm thinking of can't you just ride the elevator down to the bottom, go through the area a bit until you reach the mid level elevator shaft openings, climb up the shaft, call the elevator back up and while it's coming back up just jump down the shaft and dip into one of the mid level openings as it passes, then jump down again? no bench warp needed

Because it could’ve been a single, cool boss, perhaps one based off of the giant knights you fight near songclave. Instead, “here’s 8 waves of enemies you already fought and 2 waves of a mini boss you haven’t fought, one of them halfway through the gauntlet just to make you think the waves are over. Kek, they aren’t.”

It could have been its own watcher knights with the orange club guys as well. Now it’s just a glorified gauntlet and easily forgettable/cheeseable with tools and Shakra.

it's tedious
It's a gimmick you need to figure out how to beat them both, and if you don't figure it out you quickly die. You need time to figure it out, and you only get this time after going through a long gauntlet. It's basically just very punishing and makes it a tedious mechanic.

The only argument I've seen where shards make sense is to balance the ability of architect being able to refill tools without needing to sit at a bench by making it limited so you don't have infinite tools on each boss attempt. However, the exact same thing could be done by making architect instead only let you refill tools 2 or 3 times before you need to sit at a bench to refill that. That way you remove the possibility of grinding if you run out of shards while still keeping architect from being too powerful.
Anonymous No.721173073 [Report] >>721173425
>>721172460
Unless you're deliberately skipping enemies. Or using tools for every single kill. How wouldn't your shards be continually rising at pretty much all times outside of bosses?
I never farmed for shards. And I did frequently use tools versus extra large enemies or when they could score easy multi kills. Or just against whatever whenever I was at the shard cap.
Which I was for most of the time unless I had just recently fought a boss or some gauntlet.

Depending on damage upgrades it seems impossible to do normally without wall cheese.

Actually I think the big guys' jumping attack animation is the main culprit. It doesn't really make sense that they jump up and come down without swinging and only swing after they touch down. All the force of jumping is like wasted that way.

And before anyone >of course game gets easier when you know everything, retard, that's kind of the point. It feels like the game is stretched out unnecessarily. For a first-timer, there's too much ground to cover, too much to explore. It's padded out way too much. It ONLY feels good when you don't have to waste time exploring and getting pounded by spikes and dumb enemies. And there's really no salvation for Act 2. You can blast through it pretty easily if you're speedrunning, but if you want ANY fun tools, you have to go way out of your way for most, if not all, of them.

The game is paced super weirdly, which was a problem HK had. It needs to be compressed, badly. Way too much fat (like ur mum).
