The game does a fantastic job of making you dislike her from the get go by making her a pretty obnoxious Mary Sue who is smarter and nicer than everyone so I don't blame people for being put off even if it is incredibly frontloaded. I almost dropped it until I got to the actual way better Alan Wake parts.

I like it myself, but the DEI shit is very noticeable and distracting, and looking deeper at the plot only makes it worse, considering it ends with a META self.reference where Alan himself takes the chick as a co-author who just writes herself as "I just win, because I deserve it, okay?" And the Alan story, while being the better version of it, is just a rehash of both the AW1 DLC and American Nightmare.

The gameplay is RE2 remake but a bit more satisfying, but mostly it's really a moviegame.

It's outstanding how the presentation alone saves the game and made me replay it more than once, but really I can't critically defend the game once I put my brain into it

A game can't be soulful if nobody actually discusses it beyond its superficial elements (like visuals and/or presentation). Shills keep trying to claim that Alan Wake II is some underappreciated masterpiece, but there's a good reason why you never see them actually share videos or gameplay images that aren't meant to be bullshots or bait for engagement.

The problem is less that she's super woke and more that the role was clearly originally meant for a white woman. You simply do not believe that a successful, career oriented black american woman would move to a tiny waterlogged trailer in a white ethnic enclave in a remote rural corner of one of the whitest parts of the entire country. One of the biggest narrative hooks relies on you believing that and you don't.

That's not the issue. The issue is that we have to play as the black chick 50% of the time in a game called Alan Wake 2.

Is it on Steam yet?
Never playing it if the answer is 'no'.

simply having a black woman as the protagonist wouldn't feel forced, but making her scandinavian was too on the nose. If they wanted a scandinavian chick they should have cast a scandinavian, if they wanted the protagonist to be black just bite the bullet and make her black
