Yeah, and he doesn't have an attack tied to burrowing, only contact damage and it's easy to tell where he will pop up anyway. As a bonus, he will also never pin you down to the wall, if you get too close he will just burrow and give you space. It's a really easy boss as long as you just pay attention.

First Sinner is the standout bossfight for being able to attack them in any attack at any time provided you make the opening yourself.
Asides from that, you have tools and silk skills that extend your available damage windows outside of just "when I can press x and not take damage". Hornet is very mobile and can get away with a lot of extra aggression on the majority of bosses.

They don't all do 2 points of damage. I'll agree that 2 masks of contact damage is egregious but avoidable. Most early game 2 masks comes from fire/lava which you have a tool to reduce the damage for, and a few of the larger bestial creatures have some easily avoided damage. Once you get a couple of mask upgrades double damage is important because healing 3 masks at a time means most players would never be at risk of dying to anything. Especially with plasmium.

I actually do think this is an issue with the game, not a major one but one nonetheless. It's the same thing that led to people getting stuck in the catacombs at the start of Dark Souls, when you make things generally difficult or even just give the idea that the game as a whole is difficult then you can't really rely on difficulty as a way to direct players towards progression paths.

Act 3 completely ruined the game for me. I no longer have the will to play the game. Everything takes 10 times more hits to kill, making the use of tools mandatory even when fighting normal enemies around the map. Somehow, in a fucking metroidvania, the main character with all the powers unlocked feels weaker than at the very start of the game. Even if you go through the pain of backtracking, fighting the same enemies than before but this time tankier, looking for secrets or stuff left behind, you unlock the most useless, underwhelming shit. Those memory zones where you kind of travel to the past or whatever are cool but everything else just makes the game a complete fumble

It's immediately obvious that you have no response to his jump attack before getting dash. He jumps where you are and you don't have enough time to move away. So (unless you stumble upon the cheese strat by luck), the only correct response to that boss is to explore somewhere else.

However normalfag tourists do not analyse it like that because they are used to AAAslop games that do not require any brain activity. So they assume that they fail the fight because the game requires dexterity or reaction time beyond their capability. That's why you see normalfags complaining about runbacks - they retry the boss for 5 hours because they do not analyse attack patterns and only beat them by getting lucky on 100th try.

That's the thing: it isn't hard, it's just a pain. Having the enemies do new attacks with different patterns and stuff would make it harder. Having the same flying, ranged enemies take twice the damage to beat is just dumb. And then you have to take into account that Hornet genuinely feels weaker at the end of the game. It makes no sense.

The skeletons in the catacombs are way stronger than the hollows in the asylum. Even before you get to the part where they start reassembling themselves. Meanwhile, the hollows on the way to the burg are right in line with the asylum ones. It is clear as day that the catacombs is a harder area that you should come back to later.
It's not as blatantly obvious with the hunter's march. But it shouldn't have to be since silksong is a metroidvania. Coming back and doing things later with more upgrades is an expected feature. They don't even lock you in the big ant's room. And with the way the area is laid out you'll be wanting to find a bench before taking on an enemy like that. The game is passively encouraging you to leave him, continue exploring, and come back later.

To be honest mid act 2 is still peak difficulty for me if you don't know where the easy pale oil is. Every area feels hard as balls until you decide to go down the whispering vaults.
Never got the complaints about act 1 it all felt very accessible so long as you don't fall into the Hunter's March noob trap, but I did just play HK before this.
