Rhode Islander here. You just reminded me of an odd bit of almost nostalgia. Every morning during high school, I'd be up at 6 AM, eating microwaved pancakes for breakfast before hopping into the shower then walking off to school. At 6 AM, my father usually only had one of two channels: TBS, which would be airing a re-run of Married, With Children that he and I would crack jokes about or WPRI 12 which went over the weather and traffic stuff plus whatever else was in the news cycle.
For three years, every other day, they'd be talking about Curt Schilling and 38 Studios. It'd take weeks for any news to come out but they'd always run at minimum a 30 second spot on it reminding people that Curt Schilling was being sued by the state for basically defrauding them.
I remember a lot of that money they got back in a settlement ($61M, vs the $75M they granted to himβand consider the 3-4 or so years of inflation on top of that) got earmarked for the Washington Bridge. That all got wasted and that shit's not being fixed for like two more years now.
Thanks for the unexpected walk down memory lane, anon.
