It gets unwieldy fast if you're pushing a really high emphasis (4.5 can go up to 10:: ::), more or less

{}/[] offers more minute adjustments, if that floats your boat go for it as far as you're willing
n*i also assigns some kind of priority within a prompt left->right, much like Dalle3. So something weighted to hell and back is going to receive different emphasis at the ass-end of a prompt compared to if it was at the front. So if you're going full tinker-ass that means having to move some real fat-ass emphasis lines compared to more compact colons, so that's at least one QoL win for colons that might not be immediately apparent
