IOI devs are trying too hard with Hitman.

They've turned Agent 47 into a superspy that only kills ebil supervillains, instead of him being an amoral assassin that works for the highest bidder.

Anonymous No.722859680 [Report]

While I'll agree that 47's character has done a pretty much 180 (for better or for worse), it doesn't bother me too much particularly. I enjoyed WOA from beginning to end. The story for HITMAN games has been largely irrelevant. Something to explain why you're at some exotic location. Which is how a video game story should be; something that serves the gameplay.

I liked what they were attempting to do when they setup HITMAN 2016 with the tastefully done CGI sequences. It dripped as some kind of spy thriller. Still miss the original background/music from 2016.

And to clarify, I wouldn't appreciate such changes being done to a franchise that's more story/lore centered, or that possesses a deeper character. Hitman being such a gameplay-centric...game...means they can try different stuff out for flavor and I'm fine with it. Shit, Hitman has always had its rough patches, even from the first game which I absolutely hated.

I mean like 95% of the targets you kill across the series are worse than most of the targets you kill in Reboot.

Do y'all not remember Meat King and his freak pedophile brother? I bet half you fuckers don't even know what Contracts is without googling it.

Hitman 2 is basically him being a good guy trying to save a Catholic priest.

Like the only guy he kills who may have not deserved it was Swing King. Rest of them are like harden criminals, freaks, assassins, or people that are complete bastards.

Yea the new story was very secret spy feeling, but that's because they were doing something different and we're pivoting toward making the James Bond idea.

You can so easily make a hitman game with a great plot. Agent 47 just needs to be the plot device itself and not the protagonist.

Imagine the top 1% of the top 1% realize there is one person in the world that can literally kill anyone. Doesn't matter who you are. That person, that hitman for hire can kill literally anyone. No fucking shenanigans, no fucking assassins going after agent 47. The facts are this person is not findable if they don't want to be. They are unkillable and they can kill anyone. And the most powerful people in the world are aware of this.

This alone is enough for a great plotline.

nuHitman 1 feels like absolution with linear gameplay and lots of eye candy. Like it was made by someone who played earlier ones, but didn't understand why the gameplay was good.

A good example is BM's "a dance with the devil." You have multiple options on how to open the level, or disguises to get. Sapienza isn't as fun. It's big and linear. Please correct me if it's one of the best levels.

All you got was one dud with Absolution in this series. Splinter Cell might as well be six feet under after 2 crappy games. Minus spies vs mercs on Blacklist, the was the good part of the game. What I'm trying to say is that even though Hitman doesn't feel as dark games anymore, they're still alright with their gameplay. There's been a few but it's pretty rare. The only one I can recall in the old games that's an actual proper target is the PI your client hired that got caught. In WoA, you kill Dino Bosco just for putting a studio in debt trying to make a good movie. There's also the one architect dude whose only real crime is trying to fuck over a multi million dollar company because he hates his job. Depending on how canon you consider it, it's also likely 47 had to kill genuinely innocent people in Patient Zero to stop the virus and if you really want to push it then one of the side missions is him getting hired to kill other contestants just to rig a garden show.

None of the people bitching about it have even really played the games except maybe as a kid. They just want to whine that new bad because they're miserable faggots.

Absolution isn't a Hitman game, it's a Jason Bourne game and it's a fantastic one. Every complaint people have with it stems from trying to play it like something it's not.

Case in point: the disguise system. People say it's broken because it doesn't let you saunter around levels for 40 minutes like Blood Money. But that's not what it's for. It's to get you past one room or halfway down a hallway full of cops before you get spotted and slam a book in a guy's throat before shooting 20 people.

0. Studio run by women and Redditors now. Absolution has guys calling each other fag every two minutes.

>amoral assassin that works for the highest bidder
Was he really like this? I've only beaten Blood Money, Absolution, and WoA. Played like half of Contracts, need to finish it. Played like five minutes of Hitman 1 but it was probably the worst controlling game I've ever experienced.

Was 47 really just emotionless and amoral in 1 and 2? Because from 3 onward it seems like he only kills cartoonishly evil guys aside from the delivery guy and camera guy in Blood Money.

Nah, every year I do a stealth run in Absolution, you can easily stealth and cheese every part of the game.

Contracts

he takes any well paying job and does whatever he's told to do but I wouldn't call him emotionless and amoral
Silent Assassin opens up with him being retired and working as a gardener at a Church and he confesses to the priest about his past and feeling guilty and how he's a bad person. Contracts' story is him remembering his past missions while being on the brink of death
It's clear that he's a very conflicted person and does feel at least some guilt about what he's doing, but in the end he keeps being an assassin. That's just who he is

in the 2nd hitman movie, agent 47, at the end when the elevator opens and its another 47 but he's actually bald, does that mean the 47 we watched through the whole movie wasn't the real one? i heard the actor refused to shave his head, but that doesnt make much sense given the role is for a dude with a shaved head. it makes more sense anyways that it wasn't really 47 the whole time

if theres stuff you dont own you should check nexus. theres a mod that replaces some stuff you'd need dlc for with other weapons so at least its more to collect

def get freelancer variations and hantu port sandbox as mods too. freelancer variations adds diff times of day and a bit more randomness, but also adds the hawk bay map to the rotation, and the hantu port

Yeah that's the biggest disappointment with freelancer to me. Having a more 'hardcore' mode where there is multiple stuff like that to manage on TOP of what you have to already do would be great. Make it so that doing things like a professional would be rewarding not just for the payment, but also by keeping costs low. You could still have a way for people to go guns blazing by having ammo be free for those contracts that want you to do a loud assassination.

Name a single target (1) of Agent 47's that didn't have it coming. Even the blonde mudshark in Blood Money I pushed off a balcony did.

You mean, like in the original game where he kills triads, coke lords, mercenaries and a gun runner who for some reason has a fucking NUCLEAR WARHEAD on his ship?

in what game was he a nobody assassin?

47 is about him killing his dads because his main daddy told him so

the entire plot of 2 revolves about him being a superhuman whom various parties try to exploit
