My main question is why would I play this when I can just play GoT again if I want? The story in GoT was serviceable but nothing special by any means, the whole point is the gorgeous environments and some fairly cool sword fighting but other than that you may as well be playing Assassin’s Creed. Context matters. My Japanese in-laws were very good hosts to me and were great friends. We had lots of fun together. They give things English nicknames. Now that I'm past the first few hours of exposition and tutorial dumping I can say I like it more than Tsushima. But I strongly disliked it at first. However, the new locales are beautiful, the wildlife is more vibrant, combat is much better, and the multiple characters (so far) are likeable. It's not as focused as Tsushima and leans more into the Elden Ring/Zelda style of open world, but it's good. I've just been plucking bounties off the bounty board and roaming the countryside. Haven't killed any of the main bad guys besides the opening tutorial one yet. Also the QoL improvements over Tsushima are great, like fast traveling to the exact NPC/shop of your choice when going between settlements. Just my two pennies. Skip it if you don't like it, but I would rank it over Tsushima based on what I've experienced so far.
