I'll never stop pointing out that outside of the first two, Tarsier had little direct involvement in the other LN content and that stuff still came out good to the point it informed the stuff Tardier added in 2. Low and Alone manage to kill The Therapist (I think it's Otto? Not sure until an official name comes out) and Low convinces Alone - who was shying away from it earlier - to use The Mirror to try and leave the Nowhere. They succeed in going through it but the Mirror immediately spits Alone back out; because she's just a construct of the Nowhere, born of Low's imagination and yearning for a real friend. She can't exist outside of Nowhere, and on top of that, she's reliant on Low's continued presence in Nowhere to have a form and identity. Our last scene of her is watching her slowly fade out of existence with a scared whimper until her empty clothes fall on the ground.

We then see that Low seemingly got out of the Nowhere, but without Alone and the Mirror on his end is completely shattered. We see him holding shards of it up to the other pieces, trying to fit it back together, and the game ends seemingly with the implication that Low is going to try and piece the Mirror back together to return to the Nowhere for Alone - unaware that she's ceased to exist.

No, the newer comics don't say or do anything to contradict the older comics. In fact, the podcast outright brings back the Ferryman (and seemingly elevates him a fair bit, even if he's probably still a servant of the Hunger) and LN3 has the Mirror right down to it having the exact same eye symbol (and they've elevated it MASSIVELY if the new lore implications are what I think they are).

The new Descent to Nowhere comic series is more likely to alter things than the LN2 motion comics, but even then, they probably aren't going to outright retcon the Titan comics either.

I interpret it as potentially being a Mono who has some vagueish memories of the loop and on some level has internalized that he can't trust anyone if he wants to survive. It would make sense and explain why he was in the Stone Giant instead of the forest near the Pale City, which would imply this loop of his has different circumstances and it would explain why even though Hush literally frees him and thusly saves him from the Jailer, he brushes her off and leaves her behind. Six simply ruined his trust in anybody that isn't himself.

We might expand more on what's going on with him in the later issues, so hopefully he ends up warming up to Hush over time (before she gets eaten out and worn like a skinsuit).

According to old dev interviews, they have always been like this. An information booklet given to content creators and journalists states "The game takes place somewhere born out of people's worst impulses and desires, where manipulation, conformity, consuption, evil and death thrive. A place where the worst from the real world are reborn as a grotesque version of themselves, continuing their descent into the darkness. And while the two protagonists will fight for their survival through the game's levels, each sucess and progression will come at a cost". The podcast, The Sound of Nightmares, shines some more light on things. Namely, the Nowhere is dreamlike in nature - locations within it do not function like a fully formed society and are not built by people but formed to suit a specific need. The Maw exists because Hunger exists, the Pale City exists because the drive for escapism exists. According to TSON, certain locations that we now know are part of the Spiral (or at least connected), the setting of the third game, are less distinct places on their own and instead 'feel' more akin to 'layers in a building' or something to that effect.

The only location we can say for certain functioned like a semi-functioning civilization was the Necropolis and it is HEAVILY implied thry were a society of cannibals.

A lot of those reviews are also saying the game "isn't as scary as LN 1 & 2" which shows they didn't play those games. None of the LN games have ever been scary. Spooky yes, but they're not going to make you shit yourself in fear. Most likely, given how Sickly Sweet opens and the constant mirror imagery, the Mirror is the one who made Otto into whatever he now is. And given it seems even more hands-off than even the Hunger in actually ruling its domain, I think it was perfectly willing to let Otto eat shit without interceding. The Mirror retains the same spiraling eye symbol atop it as it did in the old Titan Comics, which are still seemingly canon - meaning it's definitely an entity. It just doesn't bother doing anything beyond facilitating Low and Alone navigating the Spiral or, apparently, being the one that mostly takes children into the Nowhere going by the RPG session. It's a lot like the Hunger in that it's present, but it's not PROACTIVE. This might chnage in the DLC, since thats clearly all about Low going back into the Nowhere for Alone. As for the Therapist - his transformation seems way more advanced than most Residents, which leads me to think he was blessed by one of the overpowers of the Nowhere since the only Residents at similar levels of power and prominence were those blessed by cosmic entities (the Lady, the Thin Man). And all of the entities shown so far have their own eye motifs as seen in >>722876195 - the Transmission is a triangle, the Hunger's is a normal round one staring down, the North Wind's is a diamond, and the Mirror's is a weird spiraling one with two adjoining eyes next to it.

The Necropolis also has several eye symbols all over it, which look to be the eyes of the Hunger but it's hard to tell.
