Did you move his lil arms around? You can point and dance and shit. This was long before VR was popularized with that. Playing it now I'm sure makes it seem strange. Not many other games really let you have movement of your limbs. There's levels where you just run from a giant shark with other players. Levels where a tornado comes and destroys everything and you have to use your limb movement to grab onto something and hold on. It was just a pleasant experience where the point was to goof around. Early Minecraft was more like that, but they made it all gay and satanic. LBP is occult as fuck, but the strings were looser. Go play it with somebody you have fun with. You guys will have a good time.

Real core Gen Z shit. Old Minecraft is early Gen Z/Millennial if you ask me. Never played on mau5ville or any of those servers before they went down.

Although with the exception of ArmorGames, most of these were experienced through a YouTube video... Smosh with Slender 8 Pages, surf with 2016 era commentary channels like Leafy and Pyrocynical (man, remember old Pyrocynical? I remember when the face reveal dropped) and then BO2 with Vanoss crew
PANCAKE!

If you are some oldfart millennial ITT typing up a response about how underageb& need to GTFO just know this is the Gen Z thread, kids born in 2007 are now 18, and you should probably have a family by now :(

What year you born famsquad? 2004 checking in

For me I never took Roblox seriously. I mean, I downloaded it and played it as a wee jit (some sword fighting game) but it was always the second fiddle to better games like Minecraft, Castle Crashers, or even the Hobo flash games.

I will say as a tween I fucked heavy with Lumber Tycoon, though.

I know I know even I feel a bit embarrassed typing out how "my favorite game is Minecraft!!!" because they aren't big boy games -- but it's history. To be examined and kept under museum glass.

Well yeah because anyone that got into Minecraft when it was at Among Us levels of popularity bought in at like version 1.3. Or whenever Tobuscus was making videos. The people playing the actual old versions of Minecraft were way older and hearing about it on /v/, not through their friend's shirt at recess.

For most gen z Minecraft players "old Minecraft" was before the combat update. Hardcore Factions and KitPvP has a huge gen z audience and when people say old Minecraft, that's usually what they mean. Unless you're really deep in the trenches with the gen z that are "in the know" and insist on beta 1.7.3 because paulsoaresjr made his videos on it.

I remember the game I got busted with was shareware Doom on Kongregate. Some teacher who I thought was cool saw me playing it, commented on it and said "I used to play that" and then I had an entirely different teacher approach me and tell me to log out.. while I see him in the hallway watching with his arms crossed. I might still have some old maps where I just made bug-boosters because they were cheapers. Bug-boosters were patched out which looking back was fine I guess but at the time I really loved the dumb ass bug boosters and figuring them out so I was pretty made. That might have made me quit.
Powered rail should have been more powerful. Minecraft could have leaned into being a beta and added into, I don't know launching minecart physics even vaguely like a rollercoaster?

Unrelated but I'm baffled as to how children are addicted to minecraft on a tablet when the desktop version was tiring as updates were so slow. Maybe if I played minecraft for the first time (with the spare time and innocence of being like 9 years old) with all this new content, then it would be that exciting.

It nailed what it wanted to be and do on the head pretty hard, a chill tower defense with ways to raise the skill ceiling if you so chose (mostly in endless).
PvZ 2 was just 1 but changed visuals (and gay mtx), but it did it good enough.
Shame about PvZ 3 though, I can safely state that literally no one involved in the first two games is part of the studio anymore, the game is just a shell of what could've been.

2015-2018 YouTube aged horribly and basically everyone from that era either got into massive hoardes of drama/pedophilia or dipped for other career options.
Most of the games and stuff that was popular from that time also didn't fair well (Undertale still gets spammed on here and its just as annoying as ever).
In hindsight it's better than now but I can't name one game I played or person I watched from that time period that I enjoy anymore.
And what sucks is we might be looking back in 10 years saying the same about this year.

I checked back at his channel years ago and was stunned to see he is still doing Minecraft, has millions of subs and regularly gets millions of views. Sad to learn that some legal bullshit (iirc) means he no longer hangs with Guude. I have lots of fun memories watching the adventure maps. No idea how I, at 10 years old, sat through his single player lets play though. He was really bad at the game and the video was at 20fps constantly. I guess the ceiling was far lower for content 15 years ago, and it was a lot easier to get noticed.

I remember the exact day the changeover happened where the night before i was playing the same old pinpoint map larping to WW1 music and the next day Fagex bought it out and the forums were upended with their updated webpage and announcing the new AoS. With their faggy Motorhead song, classes and less emphasis on building.

Do you know what happened to Ben Aksoy? He just dropped off the face of the earth when it happened and the last update was hearing about corporate espionage with destroying his HDD and shit. Does anyone else remember a game on Kongregate called 'Clout: The Game'?
It was a political satire text based MMO where everyone played as a congressman and you would use abilities to push bills forward and it had a whole simulation of the USA in it, you could do drugs to get more energy and send private detectives to investigate other players for scandals or have them assassinated
The creator was a guy called Q (heh) or Delos Ford and he was a legitimate schizo, he went completely nuts and started accusing people rating his game badly of being scientologists and shit, you can probably find an archive of the games forum with him losing his mind
It was a really good game but he got it banned from kongregate after having a meltdown

A Pirates Life was the best! I would always get the captains ship and raid the hell out of the cave pirates! A fond memory is I would LARP as a mercenary for FEAR. Ill join the group, see if they were in battle and join so ill be on their side then leave the group. Keeping me on their side ingame while not being a member. I wouldn't have the uniform on which would attract attention so when the commanders would go to scold me ill tell em how im paid to fight along side em and if they had an issue ill see if the enemy was interested in my services. Seeing how ill always have a top K/D ratio none of them would voice further issues. When asked who hired me ill always tell them "my employer wishes to remain anonymous"

Back then I would ask around and nobody in my school played the game, most didnt know what roblox was and the few that did would always say "isnt it a minecraft ripoff" Ironically I stopped playing around 2016 which was when the game popped off in mainstream and suddenly a girl in highschool starts showing me the game like I've never heard of it.

Roblox is the one who should've died.
Blockland has the community server and addon systems similar to those in GMOD, which leads to an organic mutliplayer experience.
Roblox has the "experiences" style level browser, which leads to the retarded algorithmization and an ocean of wortless slop "content".

My genuine solution to that is to generate 10 or so worlds, walk a bit without even doing your basic wood cutting and then settling if the lack of places to make a base without excessive terraforming is a big issue.

No guarantees of course given nu-minecraft gen is ass but it's worked for me in the past, though my autistic ass is also just fine walking for half an hour to find somewhere that's remotely possible to settle in.

Bakugan overwrote the memory of these even existing for me, B Daman is such a meaningless gibberish name that it's hard to remember.

I had one, but I think I used it just to bully the neighbor's kid by shooting at him. The one I had came with a green plastic screen that you could put on top of the toy to aim through. I just ripped that off and used it to turn my room's lamp green.
