Really? I had an opposite experience with the game actually. Absolutely loved the game from the start, but it became the slog toward the end. Constantly getting killed by random bullshit got too tiring, so I had to brute force through the last stretch of the game and felt almost nothing at the end but the relief that the game had finally ended.
Retrospectively, the ending was great, but being nearly filtered by the game made it feel like a white noise at that moment.
I still think the game is amazing. But, maaaan.... I should've just swalled my pride and played Monk for lower diffuculty.

The problem is that only 5% of the game is good, even if the rest of the game was handed to me I wouldn't bother interacting with that content because it's dogshit.

There is zero joy to be had grinding for all orb runs, literally only the base game is decent and even once you learn it the optimal wands to build are the least fun ones.

The Binding of Isaac

Starting the game out is kind of boring honestly. Most runs start extremely slow, with some basic health upgrades or pitiful stat boosts that barely change how you play. Same goes for the early characters you have/unlock. But, like with any game in the genre, once you start unlocking more items and understanding how to skew everything in your favor, the depth and fun you find is insane. I honestly think I put 30 hours or so into the game before it really clicked. Now I've got Dead God with 685 hours in it.

It definitely takes a while to really see what's there though. Especially compared to other games in the genre that start you out with interesting combat mechanics, weapons that change your playstyle, or intricate bosses.

Stellar Blade and Red Faction: Guerilla. They're both great action games where the haptic feedback from the combination of haptic feedback via motors and routing the audio through my Dualsense controller just makes the game feel IMMACULATE.

The world just feels that much more tangible when you can feel Eve's footsteps and how they change as you walk across different terrain or the constant rumble of a Martian mining machine. The combat just feels that much better in both games since between feeling every blow you deal and receive in Stellar Blade and FEELING the destruction physics in RFG, YOU JUST GET HOOKED ON THAT CONSTANT SENSE OF HAPTIC FEEDBACK. It's fantastic.

Going with the assumption you mean "playing a game that seems okay until THAT part blows your mind":
>Solatorobo with the first "ending" and all the big reveals the game has. Shit man, the game's full of that shit, like damn. Also I still find it funny that the game shows Elh in a towel like three times
>Ghost Trick, pretty much the whole thing, but especially the ending. Replaying it to see all the hints the game threw at you is great too
>Last Epoch when unlocking the skill skill trees, and again when unlocking your subclass (fuck the plot though, the game's writing is ass. Honestly the game's not that good, but seeing your skills have skill trees still blew my mind)
>Undertale's neutral and pacifist endings, blind, for the first time
>Crisis Core's ending despite being incredibly obvious since you know exactly what's going to happen the whole time you're playing the game
>Halo ODST when it's raining and the smooth jazz kicks in
>Warframe; most of the story quests
Honorable mention: Death Stranding. Honestly, just anything to do with Lou, as a good chunk of the game is just filler and half-baked shit, effectively a giant 100-hour tech demo full of unfinished thoughts and ideas crammed into a game.

At first, it felt like I was playing a kusoge, but for some reason I couldn't drop it. I tried playing co-op with a friend, but due to its archaic online mode and the fact that he wasn't motivated to download Hamachi, we dropped it, but something called me to continue.

It was worth it. I still see the flaws, but I appreciate it for all the good things, the aesthetics, the deep rpg, and how at the end of the game it goes from just another shooter to gameplay full of random bullshit go (in a good way).

Rising Storm 2:Vietnam

I was a CoD kid. My first match playing in a squad with friends, I got maybe one or two kill the whole match and cost dozens of tickets for my team. I genuinely thought the game was bad, I could never get the ball rolling and it was incredibly frustrating. I'm pretty sure I still thought the game had kill streaks because I saw things like air strikes (only the commander can use them).

Month later with a fresh mind I tried again, this time with randoms. I got put in a squad with a leader who constantly kept talking and giving orders, which I just ignored. Because we were losing, I eventually started following him around and actually doing what he said and the game totally opened up. I felt like I was literally in Vietnam, with actual soldiers that's the only way I could describe the feeling of closeness with my squad. This was not a run and gun on your own kind of game, this was squad based with an emphasis on the BASED. That squad lead kept on larping and I kept on following his orders. At one point, shooting through a wall he marked for me and getting 5 kills with no idea why, I was hooked for life. Some day I wanna be this guy for someone else, I thought.

I've heard people complain about the slow start, but I was instantly hooked by just killing bandits. Something about having a really small shitty army and fighting toe to toe with bandits, having to try to keep as much of your guys alive as possible by heroically charging into battle yourself as the commander just felt so good straight out of the gate.

I tried to play the game maybe 5 times over the years before finally making it out of Narshe on one rainy August day a couple years ago. I thought that so far the story just wasn't pulling me in and the combat was too simple, but I pushed through.

By the time I was in Castle Figaro, I had gotten charmed by the art style and music. I decided to talk to every NPC and was instantly rewarded, I got to hear the coin song, which even without context made my imagination run wild with some unexplained meaningful story I wasn't yet privy to. Later, learning Edgar and Sabin's story hit me like a ton of bricks, because there were parallels to some people I knew in real life. I did nothing other than play the game for the next two days, I could sense it was going to be a peak gaming experience. The simple combat ended up requiring a lot of consideration and had some serious complexity by the end.

Getting the airship in the ruined world and hearing "searching for friends" for the first time. I just sat there for 15 minutes listening to the music. It was perfect. I was like Miyamoto listening to the Plok soundtrack, I couldn't believe the SNES was capable of conveying emotion like this.

I feel like i've read the 1st chapter of Brave New World 10 times by now (and i still havent finished it and will have to restart).

Fuck LNs though, outside of one exception they read like bad fanfic, its not even the content that by itself is very stiff, shallow and awkward already, its the way that is written, the prose, that feels incredibly immature, ugly and stupid. Maybe its just the translation not making it justice but i read a few too many too think its just that.

Monster Hunter. I kinda hated the game even in LR because it was pissing me off. Ironically it was partly due to some guy lying to me from these threads saying my times were shit, when in reality they were pretty good. I got to late LR and actually engaged with the farm and then HR ended up being fun. In the village, of course. I went through a whole other thing learning to appreciate solo fights in the hub which I still don’t really care about since that’s a multiplayer area but I at least got one solo kill on each monster there.

Fuck. I remember those! Used to read so much when I was a kid. I remember my mom constantly scolding me for reading way past midnight on school days. Fucking loved sci-fi and fantasy novels. Horror books also, but I don't remember reading much outside King and Koontz, for some reason.
But at some point, when I have started living alone, video games just replaced books completely. Literally do not remember the last time I have read a book. Definetely more than a decade ago now.
I wish constant work-related stress and instant gratification brainrot, like youtube and 4chan, didn't fry my brain beyond repair. So I would have attention span stable enough to read books again.

You ask for even tougher elite elite elite versions of enemies but you realize the devs of Warframe are too afraid of scaring off their faggoty community to ever do that and even the new content they add is just weak shit you blow up instantly and then the game..... just ends.

The game would be way too easy if you could walk around with 5 companions. AT THE MOST 3, if you count Rex/ED-E

That is literally not what the original image is trying to entail. The original image shows a guy giving up after a long difficult and tedious job right before he gets to the diamonds.
β€œGame gets good in 100 hours” is not the definition of that, nor do I think a single person can even post a game that you’d suffer for that many hours before it gets good as most games that are that long are ending by the time you reach that hour mark.

You are overthinking it. OP's image could just mean a game with a rough start or patch, but then goes on to be good for the rest of it.

Thats not what the image its based of is trying to entail. The original meme this is based of is describing someone who puts a decent amount of time into a game and gives up right before it gets good usually because they find the game tedious or boring.
This image feels like its trying to describe the 1000 hour old mmo grind like OSRS

>Payday 2

early game sucks and it only gets fun once you reach max level and can mess with certain builds.
but even then you need to become infamous and max out your perk cards to get the most out of your build too.

DSOD can be a fun challenge in stealth but on loud if you don't have a maxed out metafag build you're gonna get your shit kicked in.
and don't give me
>skill issue
shit about DSOD, all weapons are viable, but only because you got some cranked out metafag build you probably copied from a youtuber.

Jagged alliance 2. I got a weird half russian half german( languages that i didnt understand) pirated version as a kid, and the information at the beggining was overwhelming and i i didint understand any of it, Didnt even know what type of game it was, at the moment i thought it was some menu type simulator, but i somehow didnt drop it, kept clicking random shit and when i finaly hired my squad and got the clock moving, i got one of my favorite games of all time.
