If your BIOS is corruptible, that's on the manufacturer. You should not be able to do this.
PCs get the memory the BIOS is stored in locked after production. Only the builtin BIOS update mechanism is supposed to touch it.
>>722888462
And even in that regard, it's gotten a lot better. I've read Intel documentaiton on their update process, and it's supposed to be failure proof.
Actually had an automated system shut a platform down during an update, and it struggled but managed to recover itself.

Secure boot is a mechanism defined in the UEFI standard which allows only known or signed images to be loaded/booted by the BIOS.
If it is enabled, you can only start an OS if it has been signed for your PC, and hasn't been changed.
Note that this only protects the part loaded by the BIOS, usually only the bootloader.

Secureboot has nothing to do with alphabets owning your hardware, that's down to the CPU being completely and unmitigatably backdoored via PSP/IME/whatever the ARM equivalent is
Secureboot is for corporations to dictate what you can and cannot do on """your""" home PC, like they already do on consoles and smartphones, it's quite literally implementation of the same super locked down, walled garden, trustzone hypervisor crap that's been standard in consoles and mobile devices since forever.

unironically this, I know people on this sub are not tech-savy but if your bios can be even be touched from within your operating system it's a giant red flag, I know that some modern motherboards make it possible to flash UEFI using their software while live
not only that, but the standart nowadays is that you have dual chips with one chip being an unwrittable reserve designed for backup and the other one being for the main UEFI that you can fuck around with

Almost all have it nowadays, I haven't seen a board that doesn't have a ROM image of a default BIOS. It just makes sense so people can't completely fuck things like the old days. No matter how careful people are, if 1,000,000 people attempt to update their BIOS across the world, chances are at least one of them will have some unforeseeable crash or power outage during it. Just makes sense to prepare for the eventuality.

I mean, the push for secure boot (such as Windows forcibly retiring Windows 10 and requiring it for Windows 11) has more to do with preventing the end user from pirating things and circumventing their spyware with user-created software more than anything. I don't think users being so tech illiterate that they brick their own machines while turning it on was even something they considered.

Just today I plugged a new SSD into my computer. Just for installing games on. For some reason my computer wouldn't boot after that. More specifically, Windows wouldn't load. It would just sit there with the spinning loading icon endlessly. And the BIOS claimed my regular HDD used for storage didn't exist anymore. Unplugged the new SSD and Windows loaded fine and the old storage drive was back. Plugged it back and the problem came back. Just in case I move the new SSD from 1_3 to 1_4. That worked. Windows booted fine. Storage hard drive is still there. I hate the way computers just randomly don't work sometimes.

He is right though. Generally speaking. Whenever some new tech comes along that pirates, cheaters, etc. can't defeat the first thing they do is go to FUD and start spreading rumors about how it damages your computer in hopes the public pushback based on that will lead to it being abandoned. It's happened many times now. And it's actually worked a few times, e.g. Ubisoft and TAGES.

same brand, size, model and everything, the only difference was date of purchase of a month apart which I agree can be a problem of batch and all that, but I inverted them to test and it really just seems like a matter of if game install on C:(windows installation) no stutter, if install on D: random stutter even on shitty 2d h-games

>denuvo fucks with sdd durability
There's no evidence to support that and there never has been. It was just something made up by the pirates to try to force publishers to stop using it.
>and munche perfomance
That's very much up to the game devs. We have example of games, mostly Japanese developed games and we all know Japs are technically incompetent, where denuvo does seem to cause problems. But we also have games where the devs removed denuvo at a later date and the result of that was virtually no improvement to performance at all.

Unironicaly zero sympathy for these people.
If you willingly buy and play AAA trash especially western AAA trash, tou deserve fucking everything what these will bring upon you, including agressive microtransactions, pushing DEI down your throat and kernel level denuvo bullshit antipiracy/anticheat software that can beick your damn PC. This is a punishment for being stupid.

People like me were telling and warning for years to stay away from AAA slop, but many normies refuse to listen and still buy and play AAA slop, so its all their fault and they just pay price for their ignorance.

Fuck AAA slop eaters, there is not sympathy and salvation for you.

My computer (originally a prebuilt but it's been Theseus'd with upgrades) came with Windows10 installed and I didn't have secure boot or TPM enabled for like 7 ears. No issues with anything. Suddenly W11 needs TPM enabled for a unanimously worse user experience in the OS that's locked to an online microsoft account and the nice fact they are planning to lock peoples computers down like a console so they can only use programs approved by Microsoft.

And right as Windows 10 is on it's way out, developers conveniently started making their own TPM-required anticheats that work worse than chinkshit ones that don't.

I hate what's happened to computing. If you told a tech bro 15 years ago what would happen they would call you a dumb faggot making shit up.

>reversible
If you have bios flashback or dual bios (and even then it's just a second chance). If you corrupt your bios and your motherboard does not have those features, you no longer have a functional motherboard. So, no, it's irreversible, unless your motherboard comes equipped with tools that can reverse it and not all motherboards have those tools. In fact it's a minority that does.

Just switch to IoT LTSC. It's literally a one line command and running the LTSC iso to switch your current Windows install over without losing anything. The eol of Windows 10 has been by far the worst eol I've ever experienced. Even the transition from Windows XP wasn't this bad.
