Oh wow, look at all these consoomers buying the PS2, we'll never run out of new customers to buy our games, we can put so much money into producing them!
>2004
>Are they really only buying FIFA, Madden and DVDs?
The gaming industry crashed, but due to the nature of publishing it was rapidly consolidated under more bagholders, so we didn't notice it outside of the quality decline in the early 2000s, 2009 and 2012.

The industry was pumping out fun games East and West while also supporting not just consoles but also Nintendo and then later also Sony handhelds.

There is some sort of crazy aversion to making low budget high quality games (E33) for reasons beyond comprehension.

All of those are on PC. You went from needing to rent for a day to being able to play literally all of those on your fucking phone. You have never had so many games as you do right now.

There are literally thousands of games to play, you crybaby bitch. Just because you're too much of a faggot to start a game, and would rather sit in this thread and bitch, doesn't mean there's nothing to play.

>literally thousands of games to play
If you do the math on a carefully selection of all the worthwhile games from each console generation that you wanna play, it would take years, depending on how much time a person has available to play each day, to experience and finish them all.
People who complain that new games are bad or have nothing to play need to find a new hobby or consider buying an old, offline physical media console.

games aren't sexy and cool and made for gamesr anymore. And anything woke or cinematic/photorealistic is disqualified too.
If you like modern games you are probably part of the problem

Games like E33 are super-rare. It's proof that you can make a AAA-style game without having a Hollywood movie-style budget, and I'd like to see more games like it.

Simple as.
In fairness I don't buy games much at all anymore. I didn't even get e33. I am an indie dev though, so I'm not entirely out of the picture.

Lately I just play old stuff.

Same mostly though I want to get E33 eventually but it's on the backburner like some other releases this year are and stuff I'm waiting on discounts for.
We're never hitting 2004 levels but I also doubt we'll get something like this current holiday lineup again for a while. For once though it feels like the output of AA games is ramping up again but the games themselves and their appeals are subjective.
