Still played for awhile just to see if I could beat cheaters while playing legit (the answer is yes), but the odd time a banwave went through I realized just how much more fun the game was without the rampant cheating, and found myself gradually becoming less enthralled as I had already proven to myself I could best cheaters, and also wasn't having much genuine fun with the game and my friends because they could not even come close to competing with cheaters.

When those banwaves went out, all my friends were suddenly performing decently, could hold positions, take ground, it actually felt like I was part of a team instead of babysitting everyone. Then inevitably within the week the cheaters were all back on new accounts and the dynamic was back to normal with my friends just getting stomped at every turn.

So I've simply turned away from FPS games to singleplayer stuff. Even in the ultraniche competitive non-fps team-based games I've found with all of like 2,000 active players across the day, there are STILL cheaters.

You can very very quickly suss out the cheaters from the legit players because the legit players actually do make mistakes and think someone's behind a door or a wall and chuck a nade or shoot just to be safe and well guess what there was nobody there.
