even ignoring the retarded idea that nu-tendo hasnt been corrupted by the botw format, i'd like to point out two major differences with hyrule field as a hub world
>1. the game was already cutting it VERY close on cart size, they had to cut a lot of shit. they genuinely couldnt afford to load the hub world with a ton of content. that aside, a map of that size would be a bit resource intensive to keep loaded. probably couldnt add much even if they had the storage space
>2. so why not shrink it? hyrule field's size was to showcase two things. the first was the day/night cycle, how it changes things, and that its worth checking areas during daytime and nighttime. the second, epona as a summonable horse mount in 3d. both of which were decently novel and cool at the time.
if OOT were made today, hyrule field would be considered shit because neither of these things are novel anymore, and space concerns are no longer an issue.
vast empty hub worlds serve no purpose in the modern day other than wasting the player's time. the metroid bike isnt exactly impressive, its just another mount.
