Did Breath of the Wild do irreparable damage to Nintendo's approach to game design?
Was rebooting prime 4 development to make it open world really the play?

I don't know do people even like Metroid?

Nintendo games haven't been good since the SNES.
Sony unironically buckbroke them during the n64 and they haven't recovered since. All their games since the trannycube have been rehashes

It looks as open world as shadow of the colossus or oot, and those games arent shunned for being open world.

As long as there are sections were Samus is trapped as a ball and frequently vored, I'm not complaining.

hyrule field and the whole shadow of the colossus looked similarly expansive. We really know nothing about this game as to assume we will be raiding enemy camps and visiting tiny ass dungeons that look all the same. If anything we've seen the opposite. This looks more like a pallate cleanser between dense areas, according to what weve seen. So, yes. My bet is a hubworld.

surely nintendo franchise #3 with a shoehorned open world is going to be good this time
Anonymous No.722911664 [Report]
What year did Prime 4 allegedly get scrapped restarted? Did zelda really make them think they should redo the whole game to shoehorn a shitty open world into it?

Youre just choosing to think its going to suck. And also assume its just another open world game, even if most of the footage shown isnt like that at all. Plus Bananza was great, and i liked Botw and the likes, plus retro studios is a mess of a developper but they have never missed a beat.

If you choose to be pessimistic thats on you and and your own personal autistic tendencies.

what I legitimately dont understand is that samus has the speedbooster, its one of her most iconic powerups. Why not just implement a giga speedbooster if you wanted these open world segments instead of some weird ass motorcycle? You could even do some sick panoramic shots as she sprints through the desert just under the speed of sound.

japanese can't handle motion sickness, it's why fps in general barely exists over there

Do you understand that the game switches to third person during bike sections anyway? They could have done that with the speedbooster

even ignoring the retarded idea that nu-tendo hasnt been corrupted by the botw format, i'd like to point out two major differences with hyrule field as a hub world
>1. the game was already cutting it VERY close on cart size, they had to cut a lot of shit. they genuinely couldnt afford to load the hub world with a ton of content. that aside, a map of that size would be a bit resource intensive to keep loaded. probably couldnt add much even if they had the storage space
>2. so why not shrink it? hyrule field's size was to showcase two things. the first was the day/night cycle, how it changes things, and that its worth checking areas during daytime and nighttime. the second, epona as a summonable horse mount in 3d. both of which were decently novel and cool at the time.
if OOT were made today, hyrule field would be considered shit because neither of these things are novel anymore, and space concerns are no longer an issue.
vast empty hub worlds serve no purpose in the modern day other than wasting the player's time. the metroid bike isnt exactly impressive, its just another mount.

Bet you haven‘t even played a metroid game. Seperate areas that connect to a big hub instead of areas that connect to each other sounds fucking awful. They basically skipped the whole world design part of metroid because they are too incompetent to get it right

Absolute nonsense. For one games like MP4 costs a lot of money and MP4 is also "stuck" on NS1. Everyone are just shitposters, don't play vidya, gay and retarded. I'm the only smart straight poster here and I've played more Metroid here than anyone else. MP4 is what can save or doom the 3D Metroid games because at the end of the day they do need to sell believe it or not

Botw is the nsmb of modern nintendo and I have still yet to see good proof as to otherwise
>brings the series back to its original nes formula
>is one of the series’ biggest successes
>all nintendo games as well as some other developers try to copy it so they can have some of its success to the point where the novelty has worn off
>homogenizes the series into almost exclusive having this game’s aesthetics and world, making current spinoffs incredibly dull compared to past ones
>sequel/s largely just feel like more of the same
