Maybe. In all likelihood their first console was mommy or daddy's PS1 or N64 or GBC. Possibly a GC, PS2, GBA, or Xbox. These are the ones that lucked out. Some kids don't have gamer parents or siblings though and while I started playing games at 4, a lot don't get the ads directed to them or their friends talking about them until 8. So you've got a lot that started with PSWii60. At that point, and it's not their fault, but at that point they're completely uninterested in 2D games. They're not going to grab a credit card and hop on e-shop, XBLA, or PSN or ask their parents for MS points to play 2D games. Hell, there's millenials that don't give a shit about 2D. And I can't overstate how much gamers that have a predisposition against 2D are missing out.

Hey, 87 bro! April for me. We really did have the best of everything. What I miss most is probably good cartoons like SwatKats, Dexter's Lab, Batman TAS, Gargoyles, hell even the little kid stuff like Rupert and Arthur were good. Replaying games is a lot less anguish-inducing than rewatching a good cartoon or movie for the tenth time.

Actually the people who were born after 2000 likely grew up with a PS3 or a 360 as their first console, which is when the soulessness started.
The people born in the 90s are the ones who were old enough to experience PS1 and PS2 which was the golden age of vidya

I was born in 2004. People my age are stereotypically zoomerish in nature: AAVE, perms, everything. Everyone my age is a normalfaggot with scattered glimpes of anything pre-2008, I'm afraid. The first console for most everyone my age was a Wii/PStriple/Xbox 360, but I was one of the lucky ones with an older brother, so my childhood was mostly PS2 and DS games before I moved onto 7th gen at around 8, then 8th gen in my early teens. Notably, this generation was born shortly before the internet ballooned in popularity and smartphones were invented, so many grew up with social media or got addicted to the internet due to unrestricted, constant access via iPads which fried their attention spans. Hell, I had an iPod touch at 6 and that was my first taste of internet autism with Sonic and later Minecraft.
