I don't believe men aren't supposed to suppress their emotions, but humans in general should attempt to have a little control.
This whole thing morphed into men behaving like women the way we used to think about men, creating drama, bickering, caring about little things, acting bipolar and not being clear about their intentions, or expecting people to generally figure what the fuck they actually want.
Women are generally more like that, so when they deal with men like these, they're not exactly pleased to find basically a mirror of themselves with a dick. Between normal men and normal women (by definition) there's plenty of asymmetry, and that's one of many forces of attraction.
That all said, society has gotten used to treating men like they're in less of a need for basically any sort of help. Not just regarding their emotions, but in general, a man -will- often commit suicide before they even ask for a bit of help (that in some cases they would actually have gotten, had they just fucking asked), whereas women will practically advertise it and use megaphones and show their arms to make retardedly clear, knowing there's a better chance for help, and never go through the process of offing themselves.
