I'm listening to the ape escape soundtrack, it's 500 hours long but I can't turn it off despite never having played the games

Ape escape 1 is a masterpiece. Ape escape 3 is amazing but abit too easy (and has a cute loli)

I can't listen to any game I haven't played. It just sounds random noise until I do.

It's great but the original version sounds better than the remaster you posted. Not necessarily huge issue but some instruments on some tracks sound completely shitty. And because of my autism I don't like the PSF rip of the game floating around either, since the reverb effects are wrong.

No underplaying it, I think it's easily the best drum and bass/breakbeat soundtrack ever.

It's a frustrating version because like 80% of the sounds are better mixed versions of the original which is nice but then some small parts are crap because Terada couldn't find the original sample he had.

That’s the problem. I don’t think it exists online unless you download it. Even places like khinsider don’t have the original release anymore. They replaced it with the streaming version for some reason. I guess if you have you don’t really care though it hardly matters.

The PSF rip sounds a lot more like the original game but everything either has extra reverb because shitty rip. Best is to record off a real playstation or an emulator with good audio like mednafen but yeah short of that just stick with the PSF rip.

It's surprisingly playable, actually. As fun as dual stick controls are in AE, they are primitive enough that they can be simplified down to just button presses. It's not until 3 when monkeys start dodging your attempts to catch them so you have to do more than the good old "sword into net" combo.

Ape Escape 3 alternate between stupid easy and stupid hard depending on if you use the costumes. Mostly because they nerfed the gadgets to absolute shit. The fucking stun baton doesn't even stun.

i actually kind of like how 3 needs you to whack them a couple times and depending on monkeys risks them getting pissed off and possibly evading the net even more or using a stronger attack that knocks the gadget off you.
granted the morphs make it braindead easy but i have more fun playing it with as minimal morph usage as possible.

yea it's definitely more fun when there's a bit of a challenge. Though I feel a big part of the lack of challenge comes from the time trials. You need to be able to capture monkey instantly for it to make sense so it just dragged down everything
