I was a little disappointed with the last stretch of the game and thought the story had nothing interesting to say until that very last post credit cutscene. When are you supposed to start feeling the need to grind? I'm playing on hard, and I think I'm near the end of chapter 1. I get rekt by Argath using Aurablast. He can 2-shot (or 1-shot crit) all of my units. I'm now doing some grinding to get more advanced jobs. Like, I have geomancer unlocked on Ramza, and I'm going to start working on archer. Ramza is my highest-level unit at 12.

Like at the start of the fight where everyone is close to hitting 100 CT, it may look like an enemy won't act for a dozen turns but unless you're ridiculously fast, they'll be able to act before your jump lands.
Conversely say you're in a 1v1 situation like with wiegraf. If he leaves himself at 0 CT after acting then like 10+ clockticks will pass under the hood going from his turn to yours and back again, even though it's just 3 moves on the timeline.

I don't think this game is very good. It's okay.

1. The "Tactics" part of this gets super stagnant from about ch2 onwards.
2. The dialogue, while well written and voiced (in ivalice chron) is long winded, and doesn't really combine with the gameplay to show the player the what the actual story is well. You need to look at the history page to get a better grasp.
3. The balance of the game is a little bit all over the shop.
4. Not enough QOL was done to the client. It still f eels like you're playing with a SNES controller.
5. I still don't get the treasure hunter or explorer system. What the fuck is that even doing? It just seemed like a massive time investment considering the rewards, which is a paragraph of lore?

The remaster did good things, but no where near enough for a remaster. Pretty much everything that's good about this game is good from the base version, which is fine- it's why the game is okay still, but the additions are relatively weak. There's just so much stupid useless nonsense in this game that makes no sense.

For the asking price its a no but for a sale it's alright.

He joins you about an hour before the ending with almost no skills unlocked. Which means he's only good if you grind. really just depends on what flavor of damage you want to do. if you want to draw out alot, take the magic attack up ability from Black Mage to boost that and run a magic up accessory. otherwise if you want to swing swords, can't go wrong with dual wielding katanas. as for your secondary active ability it don't matter much either, Oracle stuff is nice for status, Summoner is nice for Golem because you'll be wearing heavy armor for the most part. can never go wrong with Item either. Maintenance does not effect katanas breaking because they are used as an item and do not count as something equipped, so don't bother with it.

Was testing out the holy lance since i never used it before. Javelin II should be better everything but holy lance does pretty well against undead. Dragoons are really slow without some form of haste so that would probably be your deciding factor. With Javelin II you will still do a lot of damage even on tactician.
