Mass Effect Tier
Broadly speaking, how good was Mass Effect as a videogame? Is it a patrician pick or normieslop?
Anonymous No.722931178 [Report]
it hasn't aged well, story wise i mean.
gameplay is serviceable.

Mass Effect was good, but it had flaws.
Mass Effect 2 "fixed" those flaws by taking all of the things that weren't executed well, threw them into the trash and replaced them with things that are even worse.

First game was ok for it's time. Second game was the gameplay the first should have had. The rest could not exist or whatever

Do straight men have a personality beyond their sexuality?
No wonder you have a lonliness epidemic and such high suicide rates.

ME2 was better

1 was revolutionary. 2 was underappreciated but also fell short of potential. 3 was mediocre with an ending the ruined everything retroactively.

That often happens when a studio isn't confident with their product and just replaces the target audience. There are many sequels, reboots and remakes that are a better made, wrong game. You don't like Mass Effect, and that's why you like ME2. Because instead of brilliance made in a sloppy manner, it was slop made in a brilliant manner, just for you.

hmmmmmmmm don't care about your question, I'm just here to say I would end up killing Tali by impregnating her over and over with my human semen

Tali's suit in 3 was sexo and I'm annoyed she didn't wear it outside of missions

It's a deeply flawed game (barebones and unimpactful RPG-elements, mediocre shooter mechanics, continuously recycled maps, really janky planet exploration) with some novel (integrating Bioware-style RPG with third-person shooter mechanics) and some outstanding elements (music, atmosphere, some great companions) that is generally greater than sum of its parts (for example, as said before, planet exploration sucks mechanically, but it feels like an element that should be there in a space opera game).

Is it "good"? I would call it "worthwhile", which isn't an uncommon judgement for meritorious games, because unflawed games are often also banal. It's not a Truly Great game like The Ur-Quan Masters (Star Control 2) it kinda is a third person shooter version of, but I don't think it's particularly offensive to most enthusiast sensibilities either.

Like anon said, ME2 fixes it by removing everything that's jank, including the pretense of trying to be an RPG as well as a third-person shooter. By not making this compromise it plays nicer. It has higher production values. It actually has even better companions - one of the best rosters in any game. The main plot goes full retard (starting by killing and then immediately resurrecting the main character, and ending with literally the same cliffhanger as the original) but individual scenes are fine. But it has lost the artfulness and promise of the original concept, like the concept of exploring the space (as planet exploration is one of those elements scrapped) in its transformation to being a good third-person shooter. It's like some of the better Marvel superhero movies; competently done, inoffensive, probably generally entertaining, and something a movie enthusiast can enjoy, but it's absolutely not "made for patricians".

ME3 has actually good rather than fine TPS mechanics, but the general quality is strictly worse, and the flaws are amplified tenfold. Clearly, here it's just "normieslop" as you put it.

ME1 is a genuine masterpiece and an example of a game you couldn't do nowadays, not due to its content but simply because of the ineptitude of modern developers. ME2 threw everything out the window. ME3 tried somewhat to go back but it was too little too late.

1 > 3 > 2

>2 was underappreciated
In what fucking universe, normies and retards alike have been stating ME2 is the best in the franchise for 15 years
