To be honest I enjoyed Bloodborne but yeah I agree with you, Ds2 is still the only souls with actual challenging areas rather than just skipping every enemy.

I replayed it recently and my eyes have literally been opened to how much this game did right and people shat on it.

>made titante and upgrade materials way more abundant so you could freely upgrade weapons
>random invasions in areas
>plenty of covenants with side content and hidden bossts
>boss fights where you could modify the arena in some way before even getting to the fight
>pursuer mini boss throughout the game
>branching open world so you can play it in a different order each time or head straight for different weapons

Literally the only bad thing is soul memory. I honestly think DS2 is the best in the series only actual retards hate this game. DS3 and Elden Ring were significantly worse, esspecially elden ring which is fucking garbage by contrast.

The great thing too about the freedom to experiment with your arsenal is how viable mostly everything is in both PVE and PVP.

The game had its patches where balance was all over the place but by the end it ended up in a pretty good spot IMO.

I don't get how anyone enjoys this crap let alone the whole series sprung from it. They're shallow games with lore lazily thrown around in toilet paper items to collect that say fuck all. The graphics absolutely decimates the artstyle since it's going for realismslop which hurts to look at after an hour. They haven't figured out how to do npcs for a rpg which was done 20 fucking years ago. These games are so shit that most AAA and indies mog it.

The combat is shit and unresponsive sometimes especially in Bloodborne since Fromsoft just keep the technical issues and never improve them at all. In games like bamham you have more fluid action and animations to keep you satisfied whereas soulsborne it's fucking frustrating to move the character around most of the time where half the shit you press doesn't translate well onto the screen because of inferior tech.

I recently played through DS1, DS2 (again) and DS3

DS2 is the worst for this. The blacksmith and his daughter end up ~10m away from eachother, wondering where the other is, but it never changes. They never 'meet' despite being so close, and they never move from either spot (barring the daughter the first time you meet her near earthen peak and then she comes to town). It's incredibly amusing and sad how bad and lazy DS2 is. And yes I am aware every pre-ER From game got rushed and fucked during development, but somehow DS2 manages to be the worst by far.

Soul memory is one of the things that helps the games longevity. Every other DS you play 1+ year after release and you're getting ganked by a lvl1 in full endgame gear the first third of the game

Yes, and DS2 uniquely gets shit on for them as if it's a notable exception despite largely being more accurate than DS1 and DS3. People still to this day whine about the Pursuer grab attack as if that's not how they function in every single Fromsoftware game, including the golden calves that are Elden Ring and Bloodborne.

The hitbox shit is at least partially be explained due to agility (iframe scaling) which is poorly done (doesn't explain or show you at all in-game, which is a colossal fuck-up and no-no). But blaming hitboxes is dumb but I can see why people default to this as their reasoning. And I've never had an issue with grab attacks but across all From games with grabs they do commonly look dumb, such as you teleporting backwards like the game has huge desync. I don't know if being connected online is relevant to it, as I said, never had issues with grab attacks but again to repeat: they commonly (when I watch gameplay of it) do look objectively, really bad if/when the player is caught.

No, it isn't. It's just people not understanding the game mechanics and blaming the game for their lack of knowledge, it's the workman blaming his tools.

The ingame description is "Boosts ease of evasion and other actions." You could argue maybe that's a little too vague, but it definitely tells you that it affects how easy rolls will be and in my opinion is no more vague than other descriptions which never tell you what the stats actually do in total either. I'm pretty sure the game never directly tells you that equip load brackets determine roll distance either, but still the player has no issue working that out eventually.

The point of bringing up grab attacks here is because people always single out DS2 for them specifically, Pursuer's stab grab being a common example, when as you said they're universally garbage attacks.

the one thing i like about ds2 is you can actually panic roll away from enemies

in ds3 every boss fight is just a rhythm game where you learn how to time your i-frames and you absolutely HAVE to roll INTO every boss. if you ever dare to attempt a roll away from a boss, you get insta-punished. every DS3 boss has a 100 foot lunge attack at the speed of sound, the game reads your inputs the attosecond you try to roll away from a boss and the boss just rapes you to death.

it would be fine for one or two bosses but literally EVERY DS3 BOSS is just learning the gay rhythm game i-frame abuse. i gave up at the end of an SL1 run in DS3 because it was clear there was no strategy required, just rote memorization of when to roll into the boss

I almost always skip to Oceiros by killing Emma and the Dancer so I can nab MLGS and the Prisoner's Chain early

I find all of this true for Elden Ring but not DS3, the sequence breaking only really gives me problems between my low stamina for trying way too early and Oceiros second phase sometimes doing a tard-rush forward that deals an insane amount of damage if it connects (I raise my shield if I'm at his face, a guard break is much more preferable to guaranteed death)

DS3 is much closer to DS1 and 2 than it is Elden Ring

i uninstalled the game after like a dozen hours trying to beat either boss at SL1, it was obviously doable but there was ONE STRATEGY. there are no alternatives, its just learning to time your rolls.

Dark souls should be able being able to do many different strategies, thats the whole appeal of the game. the stat and weapon systems. but its all a lie in DS3, your ability to kill bosses is 100% dependent on timing rolls, and you dont even get to pick the direction of the rolls. you always have to roll into the boss. its gay and AIDS
