How do I start enjoying "autism" games?
Games like Noita, Elin, Dwarf Fortress, Factorio, Rain World, etc, that require extreme autism to be enjoyable. I play them for 30 minutes, get overwhelmed and just drop, I wanna stick with them and like them like the people that have 100+ hours in those games.

Honestly the most fun in Noita is just fucking around and seeing what happens, I would not focus on the parallel worlds or crazy ass runs that last for days at all. Most of those are beyond tedious and are just frustrating more than they are rewarding or fulfilling. The daily random run is fantastic for just fucking around and learning things.

Noita is just "difficult" because all the other games trained you wrong. You want to be slow and thorough with Noita.
You A-B test wands for 10+ minutes in the Holy Mountain. You check every inch of a zone for stuff. You play like your real life is on the line.
You don't rush through zones. You don't hit trade. You don't waste resources. If that doesn't sound appealing, it might not be for you.

Biggest tip is just learning how to keep the Holy Mountains alive so you CAN experiment more. As to how to do that there's a trigger to destroy it right where the sloped section of the exit is. You can teleport past it, or use polymorph through it since being polymorphed bypasses triggers. Once you get strong enough to fight Steve, you can just use black hole/luminous drill/plasma to dig out of the mountains and just kill the steves

All of those games are loved on here too
The people who shit on them are loud autistics, they drown out anyone else who actually likes the game
Someone who simply likes a game isn't gonna make 50 posts talking about how great it is, they'll make one, then move on with their life because they're secure in their own opinion
The autistic will sit here and fill an entire thread with his autism about how this game is totally bad and you should stop playing it. These people do not matter. Play what you like. People here will always pretend that every popular video game is bad.

Is this >>722936282 key word "want", these games don't hold your hand, they show you mechanics and what possible, or rather you realize what is possible, which makes you hooked even more since it tricks you into believing you are "genius" who discover something special. You can observe a lot of this in pathetic e-celebs who the second discovering sub-meta starts start feeling like they are oracles of the game.

80% of their "fun" is arbitrary goals you set yourself. In honesty, even those games do actually hold your hand, by having an end goal. Dwarf fortress is probably the only one, but even then all the autsimo games have "tutorials" which you basically HAVE to thoroughly play to get into. Noita have an end goal, a boss at the bottom which is basically a tutorial and all the mechanics and exploration is a the actual game, not the linear path of the "story".

When i built wands i ended up just shooting floating enemies all day long, something moves near the edge of my screen = shoot it before it shoots me.
I didn't find it chaotic. I found surviving to be a matter of conscientiously clearing corners like a SWAT person. Risk was bad, risks had to be avoided. And i didn't feel like a wizard.
I killed the kolmi boss twice and obviously that wasn't what the game was about. I was told to explore the map but explore to find what? More dudes to shoot and delete in a flash?

Everyone seems to use cheese strats to fight the bosses and this make me suspect that nobody finds the fighting gameplay to be fun. I will never understand Noita if i don't receive more precise answers about how it's fun.

But all of these games are very easy and simple to understand, and most of them don't require any motor control and very little learning. Like how much of a retard do you have to be to not realize that factorio is just plopping down assembly machines until output is more than input then just copypasting that over and over. It's literally the same exact thing as making blocks in a city builder. Elin is just a literally retarded baby game and dwarf fortress is just an ant farm simulator with the controls on the side of the screen at all times.

I love Noita but I just can't bring myself to spend 15-20 minutes wandering around on the surface to find a secret pyramid and get orbs or whatever the fuck when I know I'm gonna get owned in the hiisi base anyway.

I don't mind it, there's a bunch of deeper content for people who want it. I'd rather the game be so deep I drown than it be shallow and easily "solved" by even my unimaginative nature.

Wandcrafting, the memes, the community, killing myself through my hubris
You sort of have to put yourself in the wizard roleplay program to cook up good and cool wands. Inevitably some interaction you didn't think about or know will kill you but that's part of the fun too. There's usually a lot of different ways to play around with stuff even if the enemy design is extremely cancer and punishing without a good single cast or machinegun wand in certain areas or how some spells border on unusable without explosive or lightning resistance

Start off with small goals. For example, try to beat the game. If you don't know how, try new mechanics within the game and see if you can surmise what you have to do. These games are meant to be played and learned over weeks of trial and error.

Essentially, when you get bored with Elden Ring, FFVII Remake, and your main catalog, open up some Niota, explore for 5-10 minutes, die then go play something else, repeat.

You gradually learn them more and more and it is this gigantic game with so many secrets. It is cool to delve in every now and then, and then on occasion, BOOM, you find a build, you find something that works, EUREKA! You go farther than you ever have into the deep depth of Noita, and who knows, maybe you beat the game.

Well, then what? You learned what you have to learn to beat the game, where is the challenge now? Where is the intrigue?

Well. Try new combos, discover new secrets, piece together new information every time you play, and you will discover many of these autistic games reward experimentation so much to the point where you can only access "True" endings by mastering the games mechanics.

Truly a rewarding, gnostic fueled experience. But personally, these games piss me off for about 100 hours, then they start getting fun. Also I am kind of a brainlet, so I consult the wiki probably more so than the average autist player.

Elin/dwarf/rimworld/factorio just have a harsh barrier for entry.

Elin and dwarf are modern successors for styles of game that died 20 and 30 years ago, so their barrier of entry is that they are the "first" game in that genre people get while also being the most complicated. Veteran pc gaming boomers find them intuitive.

Rimworld is the most accessible "autism" game. A bit complicated but good colony builder. The graphics and controls are also mostly intuitive to anyone with 100 iq. On normal difficulty late-game basically requires exploits or gaming wealth to remain competitive though.

Factorio is just a niche game that makes niche fun. It's target demographic is just germans

Dwarf Fortress is super easy. Setup all your nobles. The game literally plays itself once you get work orders. If you play Rimworld, you can play dwarf fortress. It's not any harder or easier.

Otherwise you have no data on your fort, you have no idea what is or isn't being made, what you need, or what you have enough of, etc. Bins, Barrels, Booze and meals. That's it. That's all you need. You can AFK for hours after that without issue. DF is not entirely what you think it is, once you just setup your fuckin nobles.

Play for more than 30 minutes.
You need to try to do things until you hit walls to know what those walls are so stop being afraid of failure. You need to build familiarity with the game so that you aren't juggling all of the steps you need to do a thing along with HOW you do each of those steps. You need to know what to expect after you complete the thing you're on right now so you can plan ahead for it.
You learn all of these things the same way. Keep playing the game. You will never have breakthroughs or ah-ha moments in games like Factorio if you don't spend time with it. Eventually you hit a point where you can have breakthroughs when you're not actively doing the thing just by thinking about it but this requires familiarity from doing the thing a lot. This is true for a lot more than just vidya.
