It looks pretty amazing actually. First pokemon with real time combat. Huge open world, in the iconic Lumiose City. During the day you can explore the street and challenge trainers to battles, catch Pokemon in parks, and participate in mini games and side quests. But when night falls, tournaments break out across the city and you can participate in them to raise your trainer score. It releases Thursday, October 16th. If you have a Switch 2 I would recommend that version, it has higher frame rate and resolution.

Nu-Pokemon is so soulless. The era where Game Freak actually cared (Gens 1 - 5) would never see them do something as fucking gay and lame as have a spinoff where your starter choices are 2 Pokemon from Gen 2 and 1 Pokemon from Gen 5. They would have all of the starters be from different generations or let you choose any starter you wanted.

What's there even left to enjoy in Pokemon? The games are shit, the new designs are almost universally worse than those from Gens 1 - 5 (Gen 9 was pretty solid though), the music sucks, the visuals are the worst in the industry, the anime rebooted itself and ended up worse than before, and the new girls aren't even hot. What's actually the point?

No, I don't actually play the new games. I play comp on Pokemon Showdown. New generations are basically just balance patches at this point. Real Pokemon ended over a decade ago, and if I ever get the itch to play I'll just do a challenge run of Emerald/Platinum/B/W/B2/W2

Meganium is unironically at its best in Gen 2. From Gen 3 and onwards it's a useless shitmon.

From Gen 5 onwards, Tangela outclasses Meganium in every way except for Speed, and it's not like Meganium is outrunning much.

Tiers. Tangrowth is usually locked in the higher tiers because it's really good. Tangela is solid in the lower tiers. Meganium is entirely useless in every tier.

It doesn't matter in VGC since its lack of tiers means that only the 40 or so best Pokemon see any usage, and that's in a diverse and competitive meta. Then you get shit like Gen 8 where only the top 25 crack 5% usage. Everything else is niche.

Hard choice.

Because the Kanto and Hoenn starters already have Megas, the Sinnoh starters were all in Legends Arceus, Snivy would just result in doubling up on Unova instead, the Kalos starters are already in the game, and Rowlet was also already in Legends Arceus.

Therefore, the most "reasonable" Starter lineup that wouldn't infringe on other recent games or pre-existing Megas would be Chikorita, Tepig, and Popplio, which would have been the absolute worst lineup of starters ever.
