It's a bit like Tri-Brigade but you link climb instead of GY dump, and generally it goes well with Plants/Insects/Reptiles. This, and the fact that the engine by itself is fairly mediocre outside of the normal summon, means that it really benefits from the extra ceiling you can get from mixing in Predaplants, Rikka, etc. Funnily enough the link-3 and the trap that it searches is an auto-include in Insect decks just because Insects can spam enough materials to make it and they desperately need endboard pieces. The archetype has potential just based on how busted Evil Seed is but it feels like first wave White Forest in that it's missing a bunch of shit to do and if your normal gets Imperm'd you're fucked.

Shadow fusion is a very powerful card but it requires going second for its best effect and you don't want to do that these days. Going first they struggle to get any fusion out since you'll be relying queerlaments milling or some other supplementary fusion engine. In this case the shaddolls are bricks relying on much better engines. You can actually summon winda with 0 main deck shaddolls using Krawler + Sprights and the Construct Link, but Krawler Sprights are one of the weakest variants of Sprights.

SP basically erased most monsters with continuous effects from the game. Colossus, Chengying disappeared once SP came into existence.
Cards like that were worth using when you had to commit significant resources into outing them like a Knightmare Unicorn. Because of SP, you need to run interaction and need to run more interactions to make up the difference.

I saw some rando on YouTube do a combo tutorial with Mitsu to end on Baronne, IP, Apollousa, Savage while searching Droll and adding it to hand. He was bragging about how insane this endboard with 1 card was but he had basically configured his entire Extra Deck and Main Deck to tutoring this combo. Like he was running Magistus garbage and 2 chorizos in the ED you'd never use in a real game outside of the combo tutorial.
Meaning like a modern Pendulum deck there was zero followup if the board got broken. DRNM + Raigeki. This is why Pends like Vaylanz resorted to running floodgates like Secret Village and Fossil Dyna, and why Adamancipator became Fossil Dyna, Barrier Statue or Bamboo Shoot turbo. Burning up your hand to set up a turn 1 board of negates is breakable.
Massive endboards like this are fine IF there is no powerful crackback. That's what makes Maliss so frustrating. Fucking Crypter is a 3 mat 1 card OTK. Snake-Eyes can summon like 12K damage between Flamberge, Snake-Eyes Diabellstar, Diabellstar and Doom Dragon. Ryzeal's enigne summons 8K damage every turn with just the main deck combo pieces.

It's surreal to think about but if Ash and Maxx "C" had normal trap equivalents, they'd be even more toxic than they are as handtraps. They'd no longer be good going second and would be searchable off Thrust.

If that's all you want you can do it, but the Sinful Spoils deck with max support an no generics is weaker than Branded was with its full support.

The best way to play it without bricks is to somehow get Apkallone into the grave so you can fuse with Schism on enemy turn without a single maindeck Shaddoll monster.

Many modern decks are balanced for the mirror since Konami wants everyone to buy new product. Pure Ryzeal, pure Maliss, pure Mitsu, pure Snake-Eyes, even going back to pure Tear, pure Unchained, pure Thunder Dragon. The gimmicks of these decks (non-OPT pop, plus off banish, push cards to S/T as Spells, mill opponent's deck) are devastating if you're not playing a mirror, where they can be annoying at worst or helpful in a best case.
The recursion exists because it's assumed in a mirror, you can deal with it easily and go on to have long games.

And don't get me wrong, I like the idea of there being simplified formats made specifically for yugiboomers or casual players. But this one is very far from it. An average player who prefers lower power yugioh would have infinitely more enjoyment playing GB/Edison/Tengu/FW/HAT or playing WC06-10, Tag Force 5/6/V or the original Legacy of the Duelist.

What is so unfair about Sky Strikers, for example? It's not the links, it's their Rota+Upstart in a single card. Make Engage 70 points, Drones 15 and Multirole 7 and you can backport the entire archetype into genesys without affecting the format at all. You can probably even reduce these without affecting the current genesys meta.
What about Sunavalon link combo decks? It's not really their links that are the problem, it's the overall support that's behind plants. With the point system you can easily make the deck not even viable if you want to, without having to outright ban links. Make their link-1 100 points or something.
What about Crusadia? Aside from their generic towers monster, they're completely shit even though they have a link 1.

There's a lot of pendulum decks which are non-problematic. Vaylantz are an overcomplicated combo deck which does nothing. Nemleria is just playing a pendulum card for shits and giggles. Vaalmonica too. And neither of these decks are doing something unfair.

There are no "viable" OTK decks outside of Tenpai. Decks inherently OTK due to attack score creep and no limits on Special Summons.
If you set LP at 16K it prevents non-OTK strategies from doing this to you and lowers the ceiling on the crackback for these infinite recursive decks. Meanwhile stun decks are hurt a lot more due to counter traps draining their LP faster than their stun monsters can deal damage.

No you can't. What does reliably happen is that you will be unable to OTK through a board+Maxx C going second which is the same thing that kept Dark Ruler No More from ever being even slightly relevant in a format with Maxx C.
For the decks that WOULD lose the ability to OTK through a board, this just means that they lose harder going second. OTK tools like Accesscode or whatever are also board clearing tools. If you leave the guy going first with stuff on their board because you realized the Accesscode wouldn't OTK then you lose. If you clear their board with Accesscode but now can't set up a proper board for their next turn then you lose since every modern deck has great followup.
I don't know why you'd want to make going first even stronger.

But the biggest change double LP would have is that games would drag slightly longer as the player who has 100% lost refuses to surrender for an extra turn.

You don't seem to understand. If you get Maxx C'd on turn 2 into a full board then your only option is to OTK. If you don't do anything and just give your opponent who already got setup an extra turn, then you are 100% screwed. If you go through the amount of summons required to clear their board and fail to OTK then you've given them enough draws that you are screwed because there is no setting up a half board going second into a built board under Maxx C.
This is why Dark Ruler has never seen any competitive play in Master Duel, even when it's matched up well into meta deck endboards. It has gotten one(1) top 100 in MD's history and that was in rating duels during a Duelist Cup month.
The ability to OTK is a big part of why regardless of whether it's good for the game overall, Maxx C does in fact help the going second player much more than the going first player.

I never said it would be too long. Just that it would be pointless because in this game once you have control over the game you easily snowball your advantage. The player going first will still win if he sets up his board, he'll just take another turn to add a couple extra bosses to his endboard to deal with your one extra draw for turn.
If your goal is just to have a bigger turn count why not crank LP to 50k? It's still just going to mean the guy who full combo'd going first needs to go to battle a few more times.

Changing battle position just means that it shifts to defense/attack. That won't dodge an Imperm. Even if it moved to a different monster zone it still wouldn't dodge Imperm. It would dodge Springan's Blast if they for some reason had used that then targeted it I guess. So you would only get the summon from deck, not the search. No it's probably not worth running. You don't need more normal summons, and Gadget doesn't require a discard like DMG does. Also if you draw Gadget+DMG then you're a lot safer than if you drew Berry+DMG. The only advantage is that a Berry sitting on field can potentially get you some extra advantage/blockers over a Gadget. Also it being a Spellcaster makes some hybrid decks possible, like you could summon it with Allure Queens then bounce it to hand with Akashic to normal if you really wanted to.

Shining Sarc largely doesn't use their extra deck, and just has it as a toolbox or for Superpoly/Nadir. At most they'll have a couple material they can turn into I:P/S:P to get another disruption.
Gandora's main purpose is to OTK. Clear the opponent's board and summon a giant Magician Zero from deck. On turn 1 you can use it to destroy+banish the Dark Magician who can then either search the DM negate trap or the fusion spell to fuse him and Gandora into Dragoon.
I don't think that Shining Sarc has any special Fiendsmith synergy, it just has somewhat underpowered endboards without the followup needed to back it up so I imagine they're just using Fiendsmith because it's good. And of course if you do have some extra material then you can turn Moon of the Closed Heaven into Requiem to do Fiendsmith stuff.

If you look at the OCG you'll see the new DMG used some in other decks because their new Dark Magician support means you can easily turn any dark lvl 6+ spellcaster into Dragoon. Especially in a deck like Orcust which is happy to discard for DMG.

Even if we ignore all the pointless semantic bullshit which only got worse over time, the fact that cards historically only had 1 or maybe 2 effects and nowadays have 2-4 effects (one of which is commonly "get another card" to play this turn) is already a sign that the game is at least twice as complex as it was 10-20 years ago. And this is not accounting for the fact it has significantly more cards now and that there's a lot of conditions (hard once per turn, once per turn, etc.) you have to keep track of each turn.
The game really is complex and has a huge barrier to entry. There's no point in denying it.

Having multiple effects wouldn't increase complexity as much as it does if those effects could be conveyed quickly. But that's impossible. Each individual piece is specifically designed to be part of a singular, linear gameplan. The design requires you to learn the full picture in order to retroactively assign value to each card that's part of it and then have them "make sense" the second time you go through the motions. It's really daunting.
That's why it's basically "required" to watch combo videos or read guides to truly understand what the fuck a card does in the grand scheme of things. You have to read the card, watch the combo and then read the card again to actually understand what you're reading. Cards aren't designed in a vacuum. They are designed with intricate effects that interact in very specific ways with a limited number of cards and are expected to use them in a certain order.

On the other hand reeling back the power levels of the best decks so they couldn't play power cards like Enemy Controller is good. Each book has 4 sections, and each section starts with a full-page art. The first page also has one (though in more recent editions, it's just Atem and Kaiba), while the last page has a half-page art (it's full-page, but it's covered with a text box).
The lores section has concept art, but they're tiny and you can already find them in highres online and on the official OCG Twitter.

I still think they're cool to have, because it's physical media of all the new cards (other than the cards themselves) printed on high quality paper.
I'm missing the first one, so I might get that one later.
