My question is, why are there no asian UFC champs? they always get heemed. Look at Kai Asakura and that Korean guy, both champs in the asian MMA feds and then they get into the UFC and get destroyed by boring latinos and white men with knockout power.

if you want serious answers, japan's mma infrastructure collapsed after pride, and there's no incentive for fighters to go international since they can get paid in their domestic scenes
they still do well in olympic wrestling albeit in smaller divisions. koreans never did well in combat sports except boxing in the 70's.
a system that trains newcomers efficiently and picks up talent is important. it's why dagestan does so well despite being a tiny shithole.

another thing to consider is the amount of young people, there's a reason football teams are dominated by immigrants, they just plop a shitload of babies. more people=higher chance of genius athletes and since immigrants tend to be poorer and less intelligent they play football a lot.

and i think culture has to do with it too, for example japan used to be really good in the olympics during the 60's and 70's(they ranked 3rd in most medals earned in the 1968 olympics), then if you look at their record they become worse and worse in the 80's and 90's not even making it to top 10 most of the times. maybe things got too cozy and kids no longer played outside idk. for the same reason i think the reason russia does well in combat sports is because they have a very macho culture that loves to fight each other
