The protag is 18+.
The character actually explicitly states this.
The dialogue conveying it was a bit awkward honestly.
I guess the full game is going to have sexual themes or something.
It's been a long while since I read the books but I don't remember Alice ever going Jesus Christ or Good Lord in them, so it was weird seeing in the demo. Otherwise, I really liked it. Backed the KS.

It's always a bit awkward and forced when they have to overtly state a character is an adult because the story dares to explore some mature themes. But what can you do.

The puzzles in demo are very simple and straight-forward.
Each solution being practically spelled out for you.
Giving the benefit of the doubt, that may be because its a tutorial area.
Hopefully that level of punch-holding won't persist throughout the whole game.

The original story is a fun read because of how it deals with the dream logic. American McGee's Alice is absolutely dripping with atmosphere and soul, and both games are great (though they also have their problems). Beyond that I think it's just that the character has become very ingrained in our culture, similar to a character like Merlin. "Old wizard with a point hat and a long beard" and "little girl lost in a fantasy world" simply became common topes

Demo is a bit rough in a few places. I started a new game after finishing it once and the game still thought I had activated the fountain so I couldn't use the wooden plank.

I wouldn't call remembering world state between loads a "bit rough". Such a bug implies that the entire game state is being stored in disparate global variables, which is a terrible pattern.

The coding is not being done by her. Because it's being done by 4 other people. Seems the product manager has never read Mythical Man-Month.

God, the political correctness movement as a whole has absolutely destroyed any sort of subtlety or nuance within fiction. There can never be shades of grey because it makes normies too uncomfortable, and we can't have that.
Should be intuitive to use. But note that the assets exported by this tool are in a "stream texture format", which most image software cannot open. Once you've already unpacked the game, the program allows you to convert these to usable formats under the "Resources" tab of the menu bar.
