NTA but everyone who is knee deep in the culture war sauce views everything as a "us vs them" issue rather than an issue on it's own
guy zapped his dog? i must figure out if he's on MY SIDE or THE OTHER SIDE before i decided if it's good or bad, i can't form my opinion on this topic alone!
when you attack everything in your life to a political siding, you assume everyone who is against it is against that political siding, if you're a leftwinger and you eat a tomato salad and someone doesn't like tomatoes, they're a rightwinger
if you're a rightwinger and you like wearing a green sweater and someone dislikes the color green, they're a leftwinger
it's why you'll sometimes scroll /v/, see a guy say something dumb, be told it's dumb, and their first response is "HAHA LE TRIGGERED TRANNOID LEFTIST" when the original post was about like... the mario 64 textures or something unrelated... like why do they do that? the answer is because they can't disconnect their life from politics and assume no one else can either
it must be stressful constantly living life in this imaginary battle, looking to figure out who is your friend or foe and what their "true" intent is behind their innocuous words
