any game where you try to immerse yourself into an atmosphere and story. This does NOT work when you're followed around by a peanut gallery of 3 other dudes cracking jokes and rushing past every story element

Splinter Cell co-op is dope as hell, though.

>the one who takes age to loot everything and manage his inventory
>the one who needs a smoke break every 5 mins
>this one who cries if youre too far ahead
>the smug doofus with a googled metabuild
>the wannabe speedrunner rushing through everything
i just don't like playing with people

DivOS in co-op. There's always one guy who runs past everyone and loots the whole observable universe like he's speedrunning.

Any game where
>you must gather your party before venturing forth
"that guy" will spend 15 minutes sorting his inventory, insisting to trade stuff, investigating random cracks in the wall, or reading shopkeeper flavor text before permitting everyone else to move on

>the smug doofus with a googled metabuild
this is kinda bad on its own but it's even worse if they expect others to follow the same meta builds / "optimal" tactics

RPGs in general. The fun factor of playing with friends comes from messing around and joking with your pals, but when the point of the game is to get immersed in the story or play a role it's simply impossible to do both. it only works in tabletop games and only if you have a good group

Any games where difficulty or enemy health scales depending on numbers of players to a ridiculous degree where you have to slag through mobs, or encounters are broken by one player aggroing the enemy and you just cheesing it. Souls games are also best to beat the first time no friemdly summon.

Any game that has text to read, NPCs to talk to and lore to learn is immidiately worse with friends. I don't have a single friend with patience for any of this so we always end up skipping everything...

Virtually every game if your friends are bad enough.

It's pretty dependent on how you and the friends in question play the game.
Someone already mentioned how RPGs can be shit with friends, because someone takes forever, or someone rushes ahead instead, and he's right about RPGs being shit with friends when that happens. But when everyone involved is playing the game in more or less the same fashion, i.e. everyone already knows what's gonna happen because you're replaying it, or nobody actually cares about the story and is only here for the combat or stupid shenanigans, or if everyone is going slow because they are all invested in the story, then things are fine.
I've had amazing times with a friend playing Tales games with couch co-op, both for first playthroughs and when revisiting a game we'd both already played before, because we have a similar way of enjoying them.
