>remake old games
>people buy them in droves despite not playing the original
So are old games actually better? Is it really not just nostalgia?

anyone who actually played vidya before becoming a hobby tourist during the coof can tell you that's objectively true

I tried old System Shock but it was too janky while I loved the remake.

feels like most movies and tv series are also remakes or reboots of old franchises. the retards in charge are just creatively bankrupt because they only hired based off nepotism instead of talent and merit

im all for remasters (same game engine but updated to modern standards).

i hate all remakes (different game engine but updated to sjw standards)

but what i most of all is that graphics have stagnated

No, good games are generally better today than so called "good games" from like 15-25 years ago. This is just nostalgia bait for some and FOMO for others.
Sure, there are lots of slop today, but there was lots of slop back then as well that people just pretended were good.
Example: "PS2 had the biggest library ever", yeah, and most was pure garbage.

>games I played recently
Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 1+2
Mass Effect 1
Dungeon Keeper
Fallout 2
Spellforce 1
The Witcher 1
Papers Please

Yeah it's fucked, I didn't even do it intentionally, just played the stuff I felt like playing. The most recent new game I played was Expedition 33 and that was like 5 months ago now
Although I will play Ninja Gaiden 4 I guess

Because ever since the late PS2/Xbox era-onward, console companies started aggressively investing and forcing down the throat of their audience photorealistic garbage, while relegating sprite work and cartoony art styles as a plan B or something third party companies and/or indies can do for them. And even then they weren't safe, with Ratchet & Clank being condemned to be called "an interactive Pixar film" for the rest of its life.

If a game was good, it wouldn't need a remake.

They don't need remakes, and most remakes are worse. It's just a lazy way to cash in on zoomers who never played it and millennials who have nostalgia with a game that is already known to be good and high quality.

That's why they remake games so new people can play them.
Do you think people in the 80's played Arcade Double Dragon before playing the NES version?
Anonymous No.723008570 [Report]
Very few remasters are actually good, but those good ones are great to have.

Why not copy-paste the text and put a picture, at least you would look like less of a faggot that way.

Remakes are by definition better, because every game that got a remake was a bad game.

the fake stats twitter trannies are constantly pushing is exhausting
yesterday it was 70% of gamers only buy 2 games a year
today it's 90% of gamers played at least 1 remake
it doesn't make sense. sports games, ubisoft shovelware and cod/bf sell the most by a huge margin. 90% of cod and fifa fanboys did not play silent hill 2

Look at what they've done to my series, turned it into even more of a baby game than it already was.
