No, you don't have to worry about ABI. The equivalent stat is Talent and it works similarly, but it's not necessary for Digivolution (outside of Lucemon Rookie, or course). Ranamon just needs an Agent Rank of level 5 and like 1000 INT or something.

One thing you should really invest in before hitting Ultimate is the Agent Skills that look like staircases in the perk menu. They reduce the stat requirements necessary for Digivolution by 20% per node as long as you have the same Personality as the Digimon you're trying to evolve to. And that stacks up to 80%. Just getting two of them on each tree will make Digivolving much easier.

there is instead a level cap tied to "talent" which functions similarly to abi but is more versatile. It's not too relevant in the Ranamon situation even though it can technically cap Gizamon's ability to reach her because the soft cap on experience will kick in much faster than the hard cap and your Gizamon simply won't be abble to find enemies that give enough experience to reasonably level.

But keep in mind that farm stat increases go into your "white stats," so only a portion of them become permanent when you Digivolve (more of them get added to your permanent "blue stats" the higher your Bond is).

When you talk to them, press Y to "Check Personality." It'll show you the grid, as well as a white + mark that shows your Digimon's exact location on it. Picking different options will cause it to move to one of the corners, and if it crosses into a new square, it'll change to that Personality. Remember that the + always moves diagonally, so picking a Valor option will move it to the upper-right corner and a Wisdom option will move it to the lower-left. What options you get are completely random, but you can talk to them after every three battles, even if you skip them with a Digi-Attack.

The farm gives you more control, since training will adjust your personality. But it takes time, or 10,000 bucks if you want to skip it. It's $10,000 no matter what level of training you're doing or how far you are into the game, so it does get a lot easier to manipulate personalities the farther you are, with it being absolutely trivial by the end.

Seconding Mastemon. She's a ridiculously good Digimon for general use. There's basically no circumstance where she's bad to keep on a team and the big thing about her is that it requires zero optimization to use her. Angewomon is no contest the best ultimate stage Digimon in the game so it's trivial to either turn her to Mastemon right away or sit on one of her other forms that're all extremely strong during the campaign before you pivot to Mastemon for end game.

Most Digimon have good niches, Mastemon is always good.

Kuzuhamon is deceptively very good despite being a Sakuyamon recolour. Being dark data seems really bad at first but she has really favourable properties when you throw reverse on her. Despite doing dark damage she has light resist and dark weakness, but that gets flipped so she resists dark and virus after reverse which is very good defensively. Then she does extra damage to dark viruses on a premium attack skill. I made one just to fill my field guide expecting to throw her away quickly but she ended up performing way over expectations.

Nah. There's one late game sidequest where you face the "King of Cards" but you don't need to have played a single game to unlock it, and considering how RNG it is you can win with your starting deck (though there's a guy the next screen over who sells all the best cards). You ARE going to want to do that quest when it pops up, though.

But aside from that, you get a trophy for getting a "legendary" card and that's it. And one of the cards that count as legendary is won from the King of Cards, so it still doesn't take any effort.

You can ''farm'' digijewels from the random pickups on the ground, one decent spot is Central Town, start at Pegasusmon (there's one item next to him), run up to the chain fence that leads to the sewer and look for Arakunemon (there's another item next to her), and go through the fence (another item), enter the sewer and exit to respawn the items and run back to Pegasusmon picking up all the items again and ride him to the tower and back to respawn the items

I also got mine 3 jewels from the area before Neptunemon's throne/skullseadramon fight, I would enter the theatre, save, exit and run down picking up the few items and load the save if no digijewels. There's probably a few other areas but I remember those ones

The game has its own trait list that's just a mixed bag of accuracy to the lore. Remember that you can always check a Digimon's traits in combat so you never have to fuck around to find out unlike elemental resistances.

One interesting thing to note is that traits are distributed extremely unevenly in the roster but skills are actually balanced around how common traits are, so skills that target common types like Evil or Humanoid get taxed compared to skills that target uncommon traits like Vegetation. It was really surprising to me that they bothered doing that but it means some Digimon that look arbitrarily weaker at first glance are actually more solid than they appear.
