Battlefield 4s maps are shit
Battlefield 2042 has the same terrible map design as bf4, the constant forcing of infantry to run long distances from cap to cap without cover, dooming them to be raped by vehicle players or snipers whenever they dare leave a capture point. The only difference between the two being the absence of an operation metro rip off in 2042 so its shitty map design became too glaringly apparent to ignore and caused a deserved sperg out among the player base that couldn't retreat to a 24/7 meat grinder map as they could in Battlefield 4.
BF4 was saved by the fact it had operation locker so players could stay in an infantry only map all day and effectively dodge all the other maps, and the fact it was unplayable for the first 12 months on PC so by the time most people returned some DLC maps had been released, so the horrendous launch map lineup could be more easily ignored and people could cope by playing operation metro and operation locker 24/7 servers, a coping mechanism bf2042 lacked.
Although Bf2042 did have a potential coping mechanism to dodge the trash launch maps, in the form of the ported over bad company 2 and 3 maps in portal mode, DICE mistakenly turned portal mode XP earning off and killed this potential coping mechanism in the first week.
