i used to play final fantasy brave exvius. aside from the usual gacha-isms (energy system, shitty story, farming time-limited events, etc) it was pretty fun, especially the challenge encounters. the global version EoS'd in 2024 and the JP version EoS'd this year

I still think about Genshin Impact, because it actually was very charming. I don't play it anymore and I don't think I can catch up now that things have gotten so whacky, but I don't regret getting into it. Same with Fate/Grand Order and ZZZ, though the former was because it's easy to play on mobile and the latter was something I managed to get into when it first started.

FEH was fun for a time but powercreep and every new unit had WORDSWORDSWORDS, way too much work to figure out how a unit worked for a game I usually played for 5 minutes at a time.

I like Uma once in a while because it's basically a training management simulator, so there's no shallow tedium gameplay (arguably there isn't any gameplay) and the main draw is the visual novel aspect.

Technically, every single vidya is an endless tunnel with nothing. It's entertainment, you're not going to gain anything from playing vidya.

Slightly more accurate version. You need to give them false hope. Two small good bits before 1000 more hours of nothing. It's like that experiment with drowning rats when they normally drowned in 3 minutes but when they were rescued after being near death they could go up to 52 minutes.
