I think you meant to write "easier" rather than "better". On Grounded difficulty there isn't a single game that has as realistic (and difficult) stealth mechanics as TLoU2 does. Literally the only concession the game makes is with enemies not noticing you throwing objects (and if it did, it would be too difficult)

Like the first game, the stealth content is good and fun, HOWEVER the way they rely on "listening mode" is a crutch that leads to bad stealth level design because they can assume you know where everyone is at all times. MGS 1+2 had the same problem with the radar, but they were aware of it, it doesn't feel like Naughty Dog is.

I'm playing through it right now and I'm 10 hours in, the story hasn't gotten too obnoxious yet (I only just reached Cresthill) but mechanically it's actually really fun. I'm also a sucker for these kinds of overgrown post-mankind lush environments and the rainy moods and this game looks really fucking amazing. honestly don't, she has some of the best setpieces in the game. Hot take now but I like Abby as a character more than Ellie, because Ellie feels too much like a writers pet. She's great at everything, she's super intelligent and into space and science, she's artistic, she's a badass, she's an empathetic lover and mother. They take it too far. The setpieces aren't as memorable, environmental variety is low, and there's an over-reliance on stealth (almost every encounter), but it's solid. The story takes place during 3 days, you get to see those 3 days from 2 perspectives. Some people felt that the story lost all momentum the minute it decided to jump back to Day 1 as Abby after building up to a climax with Ellie. I thought it worked for the most part but it feels like it goes on too long which in turn makes it feel kind of contrived when they could have ended the story earlier.

This is a critique ignoring all the cultural and identity politics attached. Personally I think the game does a solid job at exploring its theme of revenge and how it destroys both people involved. It's flawed but ultimately a more interesting story than the first game.

I noticed this trend happening in a lot of games lately. The scene shows a dramatic moment, a character is sad/crying and the game is praised for it. For example in GoW: Ragnarok people praised Kratos even though he discusses how he murdered his wife and daughter while he is climbing some rocks and he and Freya amends things in minutes and even quip after she spent years trying to kill him. The scenes make no sense, they are the antithesis of their characters, but because someone is crying on the screen it's mature. I don't get it.

I'll see how it goes, I'm not going into it with too many preconceptions. Ellie does seem that way sometimes, though so far she hasn't been depicted as totally flawless. The game has been showing her mirroring Joel in some ways, and she was pretty shitty to Dina when she found out about the pregnancy. If you're playing TLOU2 on grounded and get spotted it's genuinely "oh shit" moment as the AI will swarm you from sides and even fighting against humans vs infected feels different. It has some solid mechanics but it barely uses them.
It's a 15 hour game with like 3 hours of actual combat.
And it peaks early. All the potential of the game is demonstrated in Hillcrest and it never gets any better than that.
Part of the problem is that the Scars suck as enemies and the WLF are way more fun to fight against. So when the second half the game has you fighting exclusively Scars it's just a downgrade.
